I am constantly cleaning the house.  It seems to be a never ending job.  This seems to be taking up most of my summer.  Are there any helpful tips out there to keeping my home tidy?

I believe the only relief is to hire a housekeeper, or have a dirty house.

I totally agree with you, it's a never ending job.   I just let myself stop cleaning at a certain point everyday, got to live life.

I wish I had a tip for you.  It seems like all I do is clean and/or do laundry.  I can't believe two people can make this much laundry.  I can't remember how bad it mush have been when my kids were home, but then of course I was much younger!

Just do some cleaning every day and I'll get done or I'll just add up to more if you don't do anything.

right now I am getting further and further behind. what with getting a new roof on and now doing the fishing touches such as prime and paint, hoeing weeds, cooking meals and doing the laundry. Plus then going out to my dads and trying to do more. My sister does not live here and comes maybe every 4 months and then is all over me for not doing enough for him. Jeeze he is only 84 and should learn to do more for his self. Other people his age manage.

What I always have done is set a schedule to what I do. Monday is a good day to food shop and make a simple meal. Tuesday is a day to make a good dinner that will have leftovers. Wednesday another day for a simple meal. Thursday make a good meal with leftovers. Friday is for mopping the floor and doing laundry so fish is good for that day and probably macaroni or potato salad.  Saturday is the perfect day for to vacuum and dusting and to have leftovers.  Sunday is to make a good dinner with plenty of leftovers. So when I followed this schedule I always had time for other things. I hope this helps you.

I could use some tips. I've been getting rid of stuff I don't use anymore. I held on to it thinking I could sell it. Couldn't give the stuff away so to the garbage they go.

I wish I knew of some. My house is for sale so keeping it clean is nonstop and never good enough for a showing. It is absolutely wearing me out.

Put things away after you're done with them! Pre-rinse your dishes so in case you don't get to them right away, they are easy and quick to clean....save big jobs for the weekend, unless company is coming....

I like the tips for cooking. Or you could just do salad with different things for the summer

I also try to cook large enough meals that there are leftovers. Leftovers for my husband to take to work so that he doesn't have to go out to buy lunch and in doing so, buy everything else but the kitchen sink. I don't clean half as much as I should. It seems a thankless task which is never ending. So I only do a major clean when we are expecting visitors or when the bathrooms for instance get particularly dirty. I don't ever let the bathrooms get so dirty that I can't do a quick interim clean in about 30 seconds (for example, emptying the trash, using a disinfecting wipe for the toilet etc) if a visitor turns up unannounced. I don't want to live my life and ultimately go to my grave in the sound knowledge that at least I had a clean home! Life is too short for that.

I suck at housekeeping.    I try to keep up with the basics like sweeping, dusting,,,  running the sweeper, dishes   but all the other things are just not done  :(     one day they will get done but  when I don't know  :(

I think that you need to weigh out how much time you are spending on cleaning versus how much money you could be making during that time. It sounds like you have turned cleaning your house into a full time job and most full time jobs pay, at the bare minimum wage, four hundred dollars a week.  Wouldn't it be wiser to hire a cleaning service to clean your house for one hundred dollars every two weeks than to become a slave to your house? My wife and I hire a cleaning service that charges one hundred and twenty five dollars per month.  We still do a few things around the house but my wife makes a lot of money at her job and I work two jobs...kind of silly for us to take time off from work to clean a house that someone else can do for cheaper.
