Prescription help may be available
« on: July 07, 2014, 09:08:03 pm »
Hi,

My mom is elderly and she takes many medications. She is not poor enough for Medicaid but has trouble paying for her medications. I started to help her. I looked at options and found out you may qualify for patient assistance with major medication companies. They all have different rules. Some will only help if you have no coverage. Others have an income max cap. You would need to check each medication and the company that makes it. A website that helps with this is https://www.needymeds.org/index.htm

I live in Pennsylvania. I found out about this website from:

http://www.lehighcounty.org/Departments/HumanServices/MentalHealth/Children/Assistance/PrescriptionDrugHelp/tabid/758/Default.aspx

They list other prescription help programs. Most are nationwide. Doing this I have saved my mother over $140 monthly. This is the copay not what the medicine would cost at retail.
