Has anyone visited the sequoia forest and would like to offer some suggestions about where to stay, how to get there, etc

I am not sure if i am correct on this....there is a fascinating bee that comes out usually when its hot <July Aug> called a sequoia killer. They are gorgeous looking bees and quite intimidating looking.A bee keeper told me they go after sequoias.

They make their homes in hard-pan dirt holes or ive seen them make their homes in sandtraps on golf courses.

I dislike bees to begin with and for years have been deathly afraid of these bees.

Does anyone have any comments about them or know what i am referring to?

Thanx
