The do not call list is almost worthless because they call anyway. It's telemarketers or charities. The charities are not satisfied with you sending what you can afford. If you can't commit to a large amount they hang up.

I am on the DO NOT CALL list.  From what I have heard others say there is a specific way you have to word it when you tell them not to call you again to get them to take your number of their list.  Which is totally unfair.  I got this from someone who was a telemarketer.  It is a way they get around the rules.  The person calling you may not be the same one that called you yesterday.  And that is how they make money.  They make a commission off the sales they make.  So they call whomever they can to try to get them to buy the product.  You are correct it is annoying as heck.  I usually do not answer the phone if I do not know the number or who it is.

Don't get these anymore, but I used to. I found a good way to deal with them is to tell them the person they asked for is in another room and I will go get them... so I put the receiver down and go about my business, eventually they hang up and after this happens a few times they stop calling... if you have time and want to have so fun, start complaining about some imagined illness you have or a made up family problem, just keep talking about it no matter what they say, eventually they will hang up on you!

Well the has an advantage and a disadvantage.  The advantage as long as it is a land line and not a cell phone eating up your minutes is that it wastes their time.  That is a good thing.  The bad thing is like with the ones who call claiming to be with ATT is that if they can keep you on the phone long enough they can switch your service without you okaying it or your knowledge.  That happened to us.  When we called ATT that is what they told us.  They said hang up as soon as you know what it is.  And the real ATT is not going to call and ask you to confirm the services you already have with them because they already know what you have with them.

I had someone call the other day and wanted to confirm my address.  Uh, okay.  But no.  I just hung up on them.

 I use to get lot it slow down a bit and i get several call i also tell them put me do-not call list and sometime they still call it can be someone did put you on do-not call list.

I rarely do anymore.  On the odd times we do and my dad answers, he gives them the riot act.

I agree they are annoying. I also use to get a lot of calls from telemarketers I got tired of it also and put them on my block list. Now it is pretty peaceful.

They are like bill collectors they are very aggravating

Not the same thing at all.  A bill collector has a right to call you.  You owe that company money.  A telemarketer you have never done business with.  They are just trying to see you something.

Not sure about telemarketers, but this lawyer firm keeps calling my cell because the last guy that had it owes them some money. Gets annoying fast.

I don't have that problem anymore.  There have been times in my life when I would check caller id before picking up the phone.  Now it's so simpler.  I don't even have a land line.

I totally agree.  With caller ID, we often don't answer the call unless it's someone we know.  Especially during the dinner hour!

I usually don't pick up phone calls, unless I know the person calling or I am expecting a call... If it's important they can leave a voice mail

My dad usually have phone calls about useless stuff... I usually block the number calling him

Usually I get unknown caller so I just decline the call.yes, it's annoying but since t have an iPhone it's not as bad. My parents home phone the answering machine is always load w/junk messages!

We don't have that problem anymore since we got rid of our landline many years ago.  Occasionally I'll get a call on my cellphone from where I had entered a contest.
