The fourth of July is our favorite family holiday.  With a blended family between my husband and I this is the one celebration we are all together... so we go all out.  There are 2 firework stands that are just a mile up the road from us.  We visit regularly and know the people that run it by name.. there sorrows, there joys etc... We go all out with a backyard blow out.  So if you live in Illinois - - - look towards our backyard for a show.  Last year my husband and his brother joked about charging people to come...

We used to go to fireworks when our children were young and we could enjoy them as a whole family. But now that the kids are grown and out of the house my husband and I don't usually feel like battling the traffic and the parking involved so we just skip them.

When my children were young we all enjoyed going to the fireworks display - now they are all grown and I don't care to go.

Not really. I can view them from my house which is good except my dogs get really scared about the noises and whine through it.

When I lived in Chicago, my favorite time was the Taste of Chicago, and the 4th of July would fall around that period that they were in town.  My daughter and I would go to the 4th of July fireworks, but it was something else trying to catch a bus home.  I haven't been in Chicago since 2006, which was over eight years ago.  I miss the fireworks, but I have had to adjust my life around it.   :rainbow: :rose:

Last year we went, seems every time we go, the local fireworks are cancelled due to rain. We have fun shooting off our own.

For the past 2 years my son and I have been to firework shows only. We would stop by KFC grab a meal then go and park where the show will happen. This year I plan to take him to do something different like go to the park where they will be celebrating with activities and have rides, kid games and a firework show. :)

We have a big fireworks show at our town's lakefront. We go up to the lakefront for the activities but go back home when it is time for the fireworks because it gets too crowded. We can see the fireworks from our house so all we have to do is pull out the lawn chairs.

I sometimes see firework shows during 4th of July and New Years, but depends if anyone I know is interested. I am less likely to have any interest if by myself. Part of the excitement is to see other people's reactions.
