Unfriending
« on: June 09, 2014, 05:20:23 pm »
This question is for those of you who use Facebook.   I like Facebook because I'm able to experience family reunions without traveling.  I can watch my cousins children grow up regardless of where they live.  That means a lot to me.

How often do you unfriend someone on Facebook and why would you do that?

I don't believe in burning bridges with people and I won't unfriend someone for petty reasons; however, I have a cousin who consistently promotes negative stuff so I decided to unfriend her, today.

Enough is enough.
Have a great day!

I would do the same thing!!! If they can't be nice or say good things, they don't deserve you as a friend on Facebook.

I mostly have family members on my friends list for facebook, I like the fact that I can control my newsfeed so I don't have to see all of their posts, but if they choose to fill my page with drama I am not afraid to "unfriend" them.

Sherry...only you know how annoying they were.I think totally ignoring them without cancelling them is a way to do it also. And when they ask you why you arent bothering with them you politely give your reason.

I always like to give a fair shake rather than jump the gun cos ya never know we might need it someday too.

They'd have to do something really bad or annoying for me to unfriend them. But the people I have on there wouldn't do anything like that. And if they had a tendency to something bad or annoying I wouldn't have them on there in the first place.

I'm not really crazy about Facebook. I just use it to try and keep up with some of the things that my grandchildren are involved in.

Other than that, I think Facebook breeds discontent, and "unfriending" people just sounds very (excuse the unintended pun) unfriendly  :sad1: and hurtful.

I, too, had to unfriend a cousin because she was always posting negative comments on my posts.  I ignored it for a while and then had the final straw.  I never posted negative things on her posts but chose to ignore those that I didn't agree with.
Have a wonderful day!

Dear Sherry,
I don't unfriend people.  I just change my settings so their posts don't appear in my newsfeed.  Have you given that a try? Have a terrific day!

I use Facebook to keep in touch with friends and family that live in other areas of the country. My niece was posting some crazy stuff a year ago and I actually thought about unfriending her because I was tired of seeing all the stuff she kept posting, then I thought that she didn't need people to drop her, instead she needed support from her friends and family. I kept her and helped her through a tough peiod in her life and I am happy that I did.

Unfriending is your choice.  I have been unfriended a couple of times.  Once I know why she done it.  I said I was tired of the pillheads and she got mad and unfriended me.  Not before she jumped all over me. lol.  But all of my friends jumped her back.  So there ya go.  ANYWAY, I had two others unfriend me and I do not know why.  I do not care.

If I want to unfriend someone I will.  It is not that big of a deal.  You can also set up in your settings so you are on the friends list but you do not see what they post and they do not see what you post.  I have a bunch that are like that.

I have a cousin who is a bucket full of drama and always putting it on facebook.  I changed the settings so I do not see what she posts.  If she ever had a real problem I would not believe it because every flippin little thing that happens is a major catastrophe and I just get tired of it.  I have real problems and it annoys me when somebody gets their mail a little late and acts like their whole world is going to end.

I play a lot of games on FB, if someone don't wanna get game request and ask me not to I un-friend them...I explain they can block game request and if they still complain I just remove them...
