lavender oil
« on: May 24, 2014, 07:02:14 am »
lavender oil used for aromatherapy can be strong depending on the brand name.
I prefer a mild scent. In case you don't know, a drop of lavender oil on your pillow helps you sleep well.
When you put your head near the drop of lavender, you breathe it in and it is relaxing.

I've heard lavender oil has can be used for aromatherapy. Unfortunately, I don't really like the smell. So it's not very relaxing to me. A pity cause I really wanted it to work. But thanks for the tip anyway.

I always thought lavender smelled like men's aftershave and alot of the lavendar cachets are pretty smelly.  I prefer vanilla for a relaxing sent.

After watching a 3 day detox episode on what I believe was Dr. Oz.  I bought a bottle of lavender oil from GNC.  One of the relaxing things to do while cleansing was to take a lavender oil bath with epson salts.  Throughout the cleanse it was recommended to drink a ton of water.  I only made it 1/2 way through the 2nd day - my blender didn't cream up smoothies the way I was hoping and some of it was intolerable to drink. (at least for me) None the less the lavender baths were fantastic.  I began taking them regularly... than my little bottle of oil disappeared.  I think it wound up getting knocked into the trash.  Sniff.  I gave some to my mother-in-law and she too said she couldn't believe how wonderful it worked for relieving stress and reducing her headaches.

Thanks for the 411. Where would you buy this? Is it available at local supermarkets or Walmart? Target?  I want to give this a try because it is so hard to try and get back to sleep after I go out on a call on some nights for my job. Lavender I got to let my wife know about this.  Thanks!

I'm not into aromatherapy oils but I would definitely give it try in order to get a more restful sleep. :)

I've heard over and over how Lavender is suppose to be relaxing but to me it isn't relaxing at all because i hate the smell. I've tried to use it anyway for the relaxation benefits(supposed), but it just doesn't help me to relax. :(

I have heard this. A few years ago I was sent lavender pills as a test product to help with sleeping. I thought it was pretty cool. I also purchased the febreeze lavender spray. I can't really tell if it helps me sleep better but I know it sure smells good.

Lavender oil smells great, and is very relaxing, when applied to your pillow or the back of your hand.
