Ebay was hacked

A large portion of Ebay's customer information is under the possession of hackers... Information regarding contact name, birth date, phone number, email address, and street address. Paypal on a separate network wasn't affected. But for those in the FC community that uses Ebay, please make sure to reset/change your account password as soon as possible. Also be wary of fake emails and phone calls about recent/past ebay orders

Now I know why, I was recently receiving fake USPS emails (in my spam inbox) about picking up/verifying my ebay orders -_-

Glad I don't have an account with ebay.  I never have found their site very user friendly but I know a lot of people who love it!

Thank you for this information. It feels like every time I turn around recently some major site or business is getting hacked. It certainly makes me more than a little concerned about the safety of my online information.

My husband does a lot on ebay so when he received a text and voice mail regarding it from his mother he and  I both went into a bit of panic mode.  So far (from what I know) neither he nor my account have been affected.  Phew.

Sounds scary.   
If you have your ebay password the same as your ebay email login password, you probably should change that too.

I have never used Ebay but feel for those who may be affected by this.  Paypal is owned by Ebay but they way it is kept completely separate and wasn't affected.

Ebay is very fascinating, people who post things to sell there if you look at a topic on Dumpster Diving on facebook, people who dumpster dive find a lot of good stuff that was thrown away by local businesses or big places like Gamestop, Target, etc. then they turn around and post those items to sell.  I for one don't really want to buy from ebay when god knows what percent was good trash that was found in dumpsters.
