What remedies are best for a sore/scratchy throat?

I'll usually start out with some Advil, if that doesn't help, I'll try over-the-counter remedies, like throat lozenges. I usually like Cepacol, as it numbs the throat, but it tastes rather gross. Just recently I started using Pine Brothers, and I really like those. If all that fails, then tea with honey!

I do the throat spray and gargle with mouthwash and brush your teeth, and wash your tongue and wash your ears.

I have always been told to gargle with warm salt water.  Also hot tea with lemon and honey is good.

boiling some ginger and drinking the water from that with honey helps me.

The very old and most used is lemon and honey, I tried it and it helped another that I saw on line is to gargle with one part of vinegar and another part with water.

When I was young, my mom would always start off by having me gargle salt water, and then drinking a warm tea with honey, lemon and some ginger. Also she'd have me swallow a few Vitamin C pills (although today I'd go with something like Emergen-C that contains both Vit. C and Zinc, both which help to boost your immune system). Only if those home remedies didn't work would she give me lozenges and other over-the-counter medication. I still tend to do those things, although I usually do the home remedies when I first wake up, and move onto lozenges during the day.

When I get a scratchy throat I know that I'm in the early stages of a cold of some sort. I like to boil some water add a cough drop and honey and sip on that. I also take a Zicam lozenge every 3-5 hours.

I tend to use tea, fresh orange juice, or garlic. How about you?

I just scoop one teaspoon of pure honey and straight in my mouth. 3 times a day if
worst. That is my remedy. I'm always scare of medicine, drugging my own body. So I use sweet sweet pure honey....
