My dog is terrified of water. He refuses to stand let alone do his business in wet grass. There have been many times that he'll sit inside and cry to go out, but when you take him out he won't go on the grass cause it's wet. Take him back inside and he cries again. When it comes to thunderstorms, he cries the entire time. He's 90 lbs of pure softy lol.

Our dog used to be afraid of water. She was a lab....can you believe it? She wouldn't go out in the rain, either.  We still miss her because she was such a clown otherwise. :(

I've never had a dog afraid of water before.  In fact I took them over to a friends house on a hot summer afternoon for a dip in the pool.  I figured they would stay up on the deck.  To my surprise they both jumped in... they swam to me as if they thought I was drowning and were going to save me.  Once they got to me they clawed me to hold them like they were all of a sudden scared.  Once I got them out they jumped right back in again.  Storms didn't bother then a bit - fireworks though now that was a different story.

I also had a gentle giant (200lbs. mastiff) that too was scared of thunder (as well as fireworks or any other loud noises like that). The little terrier that I have now is a little more brave; instead of being frightened, she almost seems angry and will bark out the window at the thunder. I also never realized it before, but I think my kitty is also a little scared of thunder too. He was sleeping with me the other night (curled up behind my knees) and woke me up during a storm when he'd shiver during the thunder.

My one dog doesn't like to get wet, he will run outside, do his business, and run back in immediately.  My 80 pound dog is afraid, don't laugh, of a camera!  Bring one out, don't care what kind, he runs away.  Even cameras on phones.  I have had him for 5 years and can't get a picture of him unless it's a distant one!

My brother's got a cat like that.  As soon as he hears thunder, sees the flashes of lightening, or even hears the rain on the roof, he goes running for cover in a dark closet and doesn't come out 'til it's over, LOL.

Yea, my dog can't swim either. I thought all dogs knew how to do the doggy paddle, but when we threw our in the shallow end of the pool he just sunk and didn't even try. :/

you might try covering the paws with something like ziplocks secured with rubber bands. They do make doggie booties but they tend to be expensive. Whatever, keeping his paws from feeling the moisture might do the trick.

My dog is the same way, when it rains he doesn't want to go out and pee or do his business.

MOst dogs are afraid of thunder and lightning I had 3 dogs growing up . The only dog that wasn't bothered by it a male black lab.
The others headed fo the bathroom or hid behind the coach. They hated the 4th of July! :rainbow: :rose: :peace:
