There's spray you can buy that has a bitter taste that is supposed to deter dogs from chewing and biting things they shouldn't be chewing on. There are many different brands so you'll have to buy one at a time to find the right one that works for your puppy. Good luck.

Definitely try the spray bottle, I've heard of using a rattle or bottle with nuts n bolts in it (so it makes noise) to scare the pup but haven't tried this method.  I've found for my dogs, as long as I have a few bones for them to chew on, they don't mess with anything else.  We go through a TON of bones.  But, it saves our stuff.  I just have to make sure to pay attention and make sure they ALWAYS have bones out. Lol  :dog:

You can try the spray bottles, I used one called Bitter Apple and it worked.  Also you can get an empty soda can, fill it with marbles, stones, anything like that, tape the open end shut and you have what is known as a "shaker can".  Also have lots of toys and bones for him, but most importantly, remember he WILL grow out of it!  I went through what we referred to as the dog from hell.  I never had a dog, and I have had many, with so much energy, he ate anything he could find, ran around the house non stop, chased the cats, played too hard with the other dogs!  Now he's 2 and settled down and one of the most loving, calm, well behaved boys you ever met.  Good luck with your little one.

That's what I would try as well. If they taste that something is bitter they won't go near it. We got a puppy in October and his habit is more disgusting. He likes poop, which I read isn't too uncommon for puppies but if it continues we're going to have to start spraying the poop with something bitter AND trying to pick it up quicker.

I've been where you are.  I found a product that works PERFECTLY and you won't have to use a spray bottle and wet your electrical cords, which in the end, could cause a FIRE.  Although the product is a bit expensive, I can tell you it WORKS and is worth the money.  It's sold at Petsmart:

Puppies are wonderful but they are also a lot of work. I would spray the bitter spray on things you don't want your puppy to chew on. You also have to watch them constantly and not leave them alone because there's always something you don't think will be a problem that can be. Even dog toys can be a danger if not monitored. But it's all worth it because puppies are also so much fun. Enjoy!!!!!!

Yes it can be. I have tried the cage punishment. The spanking and putting them in their cage. It takes repetition. Good luck with the training. You can also restrain them, tying them up where they don't get into things.

Make sure the puppy has something to chew on that is their own, like bones or pig's ears. Cage/crate the animal whenever you can not supervise what it is doing, dogs LIKE crates, it is THEIR little hideaway so don't fret the guilt thing of 'jailing' your puppy!

The chew deterrent products may or may not work for your situation, but I would not hesitate to try them.
