Had to put my lab down.
« on: March 10, 2014, 04:10:24 pm »
he was 10yrs old and a lab.He had been coughing for awhile but was eating and playing.last few weeks he wanted to stand up out side all the time, and his legs were swelling up.We thought a bad heart but was surprised by the cancer seen on an xray.My son is pretty upset had him since he was 12.I miss him  it will take time to get over it.Vet said it was bad and the best thing would be to let him go.It seemed so fast really this morning we were taking him to the vet and now he's not with us anymore.Talking and writing about it helps. His name was romeo a sweet lab mix.

You have my sympathy on putting down your Lab.  I had a lab named CuJo over 10 years ago and he ran away.  He was the sweetest dog.  Do you plan to replace him, or was he priceless?  Once again, I am so sorry. :( :( :( :rainbow:

I am so very sorry to hear about your dog.  It's always so sad and hard whenever you lose a pet.  They are part of the family and it's always difficult.  Again, I am so sorry.

:dog: I know how that feels, and my heart goes out to you. I've had to put 2 dogs down, and it hurts a  lot because they become part of your family. Take care!

I'm so sorry to hear your news. My mum (who now lives alone) has just had to have her 16 year old cat put to sleep. She went off her food and became very disorientated. She started hiding behind the tv amongst all the tv wires. It was really distressing to watch. My mum took her to the vets where they said she had cancer in her tummy and also her eye, she was totally blind. The vet did give her a massive dose of antibiotics which helped her improve for a few days, but then she declined again very rapidly. So I'm afraid the vet put her to sleep. I feel for you but I'm sure your dog had a happy life, as did my mum's cat.

I know, unfortunately from past experience, time does make it easier.  In time you stop hurting, but you always remember.  So sorry.   :(
