This was one of the strangest stories I've heard in a while.  A plane vanishing without a trace?  You'd think that with modern technology they would be able to find it.

That's what I'm sayin.  How does a jet just disappear off radar with absolutely no trace anywhere.  This sounds like something out of a Twlight Zone Movie.  I cannot imagine what their families are going thru.  If they found evidence that it crashed in the ocean it would be closure.  Also if it went into the ocean nose first atthe speed it would have hit and it is in fact on the ocean floor so we have anything that can see down that far to find it?  I shall have to google because I am wondering how deep the ocean is.  How far down could it have gone?

It seems really odd.  I do not see how a jet liner can disappear with out a trace.  Just disappear in thin air.  It just does not make sense.  I do feel bad for the surviving family members.  It has to be more horrible to not know anything.  It honestly seems like it would be better if it crashed and they knew it and knew what happened.  Its a sad situation.

I agree with you. How does one lose an airliner?  ::) They have black boxes and air traffic controllers.

I didn't understand that either.  ???

The story is tragic, but I don't want to make assumptions on what happened either.  The news is constantly throwing out ideas - including terrorism (a person on CNN is annoying reemphasizing this), but no one really knows at this point.

The transponder inside the *bleep* pit can be turned off.  As for the black box, if it is far enough under water it probably cannot emit a signal.  I was talking to a friend this morning and I told her I was thinking if it went nose first into the ocean and full speed and is as much as 40,000 feet under water they may never find it.  Her husband thinks maybe the transponder was turned off, the jet was hijacked and landed somewhere in another country and the people are being held hostage.  I cannot imagine what their family is going thru not knowing anything.  And I have heard a lot of speculation from random posters online that are things that actually make sense.  Esp when we have a situation that makes no sense at all.

I kind of doubt that.  Esp when you consider most of them are from countries that do not believe in God.

They actually had pretty much confirmed it was not terrorism.  Maybe he didn't get that memo. lol

I heard this morning that people have been calling the cell phones of the passengers and the phones are ringing.  If that is true, then the plane is not in the water.

It is a crazy situation.  I hope they can solve the case for the families of the people on board at least.  I am sure the airports will be on high alert again, for good reason
