Second Life
« on: March 05, 2014, 06:37:04 pm »
Second life is another instant messaging universe. Do you think its better than imvu? I like the fact that you can move your person around, in imvu you just click where you want to go. THer are more places to explore in secondlife. whats your opinion?

What is second life?  Is this a game like a virtual reality type game?  I play one that is called Virtual Families 2.   I have been playing for a couple of years.  Long as I have a kid to pass the house along to I can keep playing.  When the last generation dies with no kids the game ends.

My cousin plays too.  But you don't connect to other players.  So we randomly text crazy comments about the game.  Nobody would understand this but us.  If our texts were monitored we would surely be arrested or hauled off and locked up for our own safety.  Or the safety of the peeps in the game that we are doing stuff to.  :D

i've played second life be for and was a furry in it though i haven't played the other one you mentioned but here is what i think about second life. Its a good game but hard to do if you don't know programming at all when creating items, lots of places to go to but the maping is hard to follow, you have to rent your own place or rent an island with real money (witch most islands & houses get removed after abit), the home security system to prevent anyone else from entering your establishment dose not work at all (i teleported into many of them not on purpose), and its hard to adjust items on your avi. Every MMO has its pros and cons i usually look on MMOhuts to see the reviews on them be for i play them. :cat:

This sounds interesting, but I've never heard of Second Life until this thread.  So it is a game?  (from what I gather from other posts...)

Yes its a game a MMO is short for massive multiplayer online (RPG = role playing game) to put it simply its a virtual world where thousands of players explore and communicate twords each other. Second Life is a world where you can create anything but like my previous post its hard to do if you don't know programming and its hard to fit items on your avi (your ingame character). :cat:

I don't do any of the ones that require real money.  Or the ones that you can use real money to make the game better.  If I do I just play with the free stuff.

same here though i do like the ones that are mico transaction (second life is free to play and there is alot of free stuff in it but i kind of felt homeless without a place) its because i rather pay at my own pace also in real life anything can happen money wise. :cat:

I've heard of both before, but I never played either one.  The concept of Second Life sounds more interesting - almost like a Sims game, but I think certain features such as extra real estate do cost extra money. I think one of the fascinating stories I remember hearing is some early members make significant money selling things on there.

Never heard of this and don't have much interest in it or other programs of this ilk. I personally like to write letters in longhand and speak on the phone if I can't be face to face with the people I communicate with. Just me, yeah, old fashioned kinda guy...

Well davidh121 yes you can earn money on it but as for being rich almost no one dose get to that point (becuse the difference between lindin dollars is very low compaired to real $ so its not probable to be rich) but you can be noticed by larger companies though artistic skill and/or programming skill though SL (or other VR worlds thats alike) then theres also others that can take your creations and copy the same items (or parts of that item) to there own means for example i can bring SL items to another VR world to sell or profit from & all there is needed is photos of the design when broken down step by step (the programming can be looked up for free on how to do & wouldn't be hard to duplicate for those that know how to do programming). :cat:

o & i also thought of something while remembering MMOs & a anime called sword art online and wish there was a world that you are given and create a world on a disk but it'll be connected to other worlds. just in thought :cat:

I actually looked at this online today.  It didn't make a lot of sense to me.  I had seen where someone said you earn virtual money on the site that you can cash in for real money???  That didn't make sense either when I was on their site reading.  It seems to do a lot of rambling, double talking, and just not making sense.

well when i read how there lindin dollars works i was confused about it at first to so i know how you feal but i just took the simple way of understanding it basically to put it simply you take X amount of lindin dollars to = X amount of real money and can be transfered both ways (via by paypal or credit card) so lets just say lindin dollars is 100 to $1 US dollar it'll take 1,000 lindin dollars to make $10 US dollars or vice a verse. :cat:
