I have heard a little about Second Life.  A MMO (Massive Multi-Player Online) game.  I have never played it but hear that it is quite large and popular.  I have enough problems in real life than to take time to play an imaginary one.  I do spend a lot of time online for purposes that extend beyond myself.  But, I look forward to the day that I can get rid of my computer all together and have others take over my computer operations and purposes.

I actually looked at this online today.  It didn't make a lot of sense to me.  I had seen where someone said you earn virtual money on the site that you can cash in for real money???  That didn't make sense either when I was on their site reading.  It seems to do a lot of rambling, double talking, and just not making sense.
well when i read how there lindin dollars works i was confused about it at first to so i know how you feal but i just took the simple way of understanding it basically to put it simply you take X amount of lindin dollars to = X amount of real money and can be transfered both ways (via by paypal or credit card) so lets just say lindin dollars is 100 to $1 US dollar it'll take 1,000 lindin dollars to make $10 US dollars or vice a verse. :cat:

That makes sense.  I am not sure how you earn money on there.  That didn't make sense either.  It kind of seemed like it would be hard to play.  I like simple games that do not require a lot of concentration.

I play Virtual Families 2 and really enjoy it.  It is kind of like the Sims games but I guess more kid friendly.  I have heard Sims can be more adult rated. lol.

To countrygirl12
(it ran out of room on text)
In the game itself (aka multiverse or the VR world itself) there are plenty of ways but i'll only explain 4 (it's because some of the ways are adult ways of doing & i personality never do that type for profit or for anything else)
1. to sell your creations though vendors (vending is the same as renting a space but its abit cheaper unless you rent your own space +like i typed be for copie cats can take advantage)
2. to get reconnized by a major company through artistic or programming (because with lindens being both ways you can be payed for your work)
3. through contests (though i have done abit here & there except for major ones sponsored by major companies)
4. To display your items as a catalogue to sell real items by mail (aka niki uses VR items as a catalogue basically you buy the VR item as regular shoes in real life you keep the VR item and the shoes are sent to you by mail)
And yes it is difficult to do if you don't know programming (basically scripting) :cat:

I think it is all a waste of time.  Crazy me, I like to stay in contact with people in a more personal way.  I'm not bashing....to each their own.

I see your point of being a waist of time but if you dig deep enuf games in general are a learning tool and cultural experience (i know second life gamers get mad calling it a game but in concept thats what it is) So yes it is a waist of time if a player dose not want to learn but if a player dose want to learn then i wouldn't say its a waist because your gaining knowledge out of the experience. As for the stay in contact in personal ways just take a look at the pencil and paper dungeons & dragons witch implicates math, strategy, and teamwork with others (when done right by the DM) & online games are based off of the same principle. The unfortunate side to online (to many to list) is people that have intentions to harm, hinder, cheat, con others & the system itself. :cat:

My one friend uses Second Life all the time and keeps trying to get me to start, but I don't want to get dragged into something else like I did with Facebook.

I play this game. I am a queen in a rpg game called tiny empires. I also have a store and I own land. I have been playing for about 6 years now. I enjoy it and a good way to take a break at times.  :)
