Sounds hard to make to me so I rather not make my own rather just buy a brand named one and enjoy my shower hahaha.

Only type of making or shaping I've ever done with soap is with soap stone.  Not the same of course. I have a friend's wife who is confident in starting a business on scented soap, so that would be interesting to see.

My husband's grandmother raised him after his mother died at age twelve.  He remembers her making lye soap on a routine basis.  He said it really, really made you feel clean.  You would think clean would be clean, but he said it made you feel cleaner than soap today.  He also says he can remember that the smell was really strong, not unpleasant, just strong.

:)I would like to find a good way to make soap and sell at craft shows.  My mother made lye soap in a big iron kettle years ago.  It was so good.  Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.

I haven't never had the chance to do anything like this but I would like to try soap and lotion making when I have time.

I bought a Martha Stewart soap-making kit several ago and made soap with various fragrances, colors, and other stuff. Its different, but nice and fun to do. Not saying this is like making lye soap like my grandmother did.  But interesting...

I've never tried to make soap before but this is something I've always had some interest in trying. This thread just reminded me about that. Thanks for all the great ideas. It gives me something to consider.

I have made lye soap, grandmother made it. But it so harsh.  I wish I could find  my other grandmothers recipe , she made it the way the Indians did out of Yucca plant roots.  My hair felt like silk, and I never had acne, but alas another recipe lost. But I think I can find it somewhere.  If I just keep looking. Oh and it smelt so fresh and clean.

I have never made soap from scratch but have been tempted to try it several times.  I think it would be really cool to make some.  I wanted to make soap with honey in it.

What kind of soap?  When I was in girl scouts I made soap out of lard.  I want to make laundry soap, but, I am not finding the recipe I want.
