During the winter season
Move furniture away from windows. It’s warmer to sit near inside walls.
close draperies and shades at night to reduce the chill you may feel from cold windows.
Close off doors and vents in unused rooms to conserve heat within your home.
Warm air rises, so use registers to direct warm airflow across the floor.
Close your fireplace damper when not in use.

I am not trying to be funny, but the only way to cut expenses is to move on a island.

We all wish to have a personal tropical island to our selves lol. In all seriousness there is a way to get your own man made personal island but it'll cost alot of $$$ then there taxes because you have to be apart of a government & that costs alot of $$$ as well (its so that no one can raid your island aka pirates & yes there still around even after centuries). So all & all its a good dream but it wouldn't do for cutting expenses at all (& dangerous if you don't know what your doing)

Put Self-Closing Hinges on Your Doors
This will keep cold air from entering your house. :cat:

Understanding how much income is coming in on a monthly basis is imperative. It's a numbers thing you look at your numbers, you look at your expenses and what you're setting money aside for, and you know that the sum total has to be less than what you're bringing home and it's much easier than people may think. :cat:

When I decided to cut expenses at home. I try not go to the store as often as I need to. Going to the store often is very tempting for me to spend more even if I have a list with me. I am easily destructed with the good staffs at the store.

What I try to do is to only buy what I need and not want I want.    I try and use up the things that I already have before going out an buying more.  I think alos you have to save a portion of your money somewhere you dont touch to have a savings.

I keep seeing this thread over again and it got me thinking. Why would I want to CUT expenses when spending money is such great fun? What I would rather do is increase them, but that takes increasing income to balance it. So since my motto is, "Spend A Little to Make A Lot" I am always looking for more ways to accomplish that goal.

I could see it but not many has that luck to begin with of making it over ends meat. It would be great if everyone makes it over ends meat but so far and in between actually do (even the middle class will be no more and thats sad) so we find ways to accommodate in the situation that we are in now.

I cut out my TV service since all it did as make me mad and I've been without it now for 2 months. I'm enjoying not seeing all the commercials and flipping channels. Now I just watch VHS tapes and DVDs that I get at the library.

Invest in a Freezer
Freezers are a great tool. It allows you to stock up. The family often buys extra items they consume often, when they're on sale, and freezes them to use at a later date. :cat:

It's not about each little penny here and there, It's the total sum as you learn a lifestyle of conservation, where the pennies add up to dollars, and the dollars add up to hundreds of dollars. And it helps the environment as well. :cat:

Bowling is pretty pricey here in CA, even if you get deals - if you have your own bowling shoes then not so bad, but definitely not cheap.   Miniature Golf is expensive too, especially if you are talking about a family going.

The rest are GREAT ideas for families.  They also have concerts at the park at night throughout the summers.    Good family bonding time :)
