If you're gonna shovel your front stairs and you're on your sidewalk in front of your house would you start at the top of the stairs or at the bottom?

That will all depend. I normally like starting at the top. For me I have a door on the second floor, so to start at the top is easy. And I like doing it that way because the snow will fall to the ground and then I can shovel that.

I would start at the top. It would be easier for me to navigate.

I would start at the top and have gravity on my side.

I'm not sure which would be the easiest. Maybe the gravity thing.

I guess it all depends on if you're heading up or down and where the shovel is at the moment.  I've used a broom before instead of a shovel.. course it was a light snow.  Yesterday my husband tackled our deck and steps with a spade shovel.  The ice build up is so thick he said it was like concrete and needed a jack hammer.

I think you should start at where you are comfortable with. when you find that comfortable area then you can move around from there. Be careful you don't hurt your back. Wish you are near so I can come do that for you. Hope that helps.
