How did this woman walk into a school and take away her son?
« on: February 19, 2014, 04:39:23 am »
I heard on the news this morning that an arrest warrant has been issued for a woman who walked into a Miami, Florida school and took her son, whom she did not have custody of and was not supposed to have contact with.  It is really bad when you get the comeuppance to do things like this.  Security guards should be placed in the schools to stop things like this.  I don't see how she even did this without getting caught.  Your take on this? ??? ??? ??? :rainbow:

The school is definitely at fault for letting this woman in the building and allowing her to walk out with her son. I occasionally pick my gran children up from school, but I am on the list of authorized adults that are allowed to do so.

That is interesting... I guess if I was a principal of a school and a woman came in to take her own son out of school, it wouldn't have raised any red flags to me unless it had been brought to my attention previously that this mother was not allowed to do so. I can't imagine that a school would require an authorization list of all possible people that are authorized to pick up each child in that school, esp. for close relatives like the child's parents. But perhaps I'm just being too naive in this day and age where you have kidnapping cases brought about by custody disputes, or even parents being charged with child abuse. It'd be interesting to know why the woman wasn't allowed to have contact with her own child; something so severe like that should have been brought to the attention before hand, and if so then the school really should be blamed for ignoring something specific and unique as a parent not being allowed to have contact with his/her child.

The school should have documentation about this issue on the background of the child. The school need to up their procedures to protect student under their care.

I know here in KY you have to be buzzed in the front door and show id to do anything --I would say that school has a lot of answering to do!

It's sad that it has to be like this between parents and their children.
