Do you use coupons for things you don't normally buy just to save money?

When my kids were little and I was strapped for money (which was almost always) I would use coupons a lot.  Would help so much, but they are grown ... and so many of the items I would purchase for them I can't have now.  Anyway, it's a good topic I think ...

Coupons ... just what you normally use or not?

We have some health issues in this house and my aunt and I don't purchase too many things that the coupons covers, BUT occasionally I do find some we can use.

I do use coupons but only for things I buy.  If I buy something just because I have a coupon and its not something I usually buy then I am not saving money.

I use coupons only on things I normally buy, and occasionally for something that I don't normally buy but want to try. I spend time each week going through flyers, matching up coupons with sales etc...to get the best discounted price I can...I love to find good deals and save money!

I use coupons a lot. Just last month a friend emailed me a coupon for $9 off of Tide detergent and $3.98 off of Charmin bath tissue. Hopefully that will happen again soon.

I love using coupons but only use them for the thing I already buy.   It's always great when I find something on sale and have a coupon on top of it .. Bonus !!

I usually use coupons for things that I normally buy.  Every sunday we go through the sunday paper to find some helpful coupons.

I have recently started using coupons for just almost everything. Purchase things on sale as well.

I use coupons whenever I can but it is mostly for things that I normally buy like cereal, yogurt, TP  household items etc. Sometimes I will use them to try a new product but that is very rare. :peace:

I agree with CountryGirl that if the coupon isn't for something I'd normally buy, then it isn't really a deal. Since most of my groceries are for fresh products, I don't usually have coupons for them. But the store I shop at also has a gas station at some locations and have a "Fuel Saver" card that knocks off a few cents per gallon when buying certain products, including those fresh foods, so I end up saving money that way instead.

For personal products, however, I try to use coupons as much as possible. I like going to Walgreens for those since they have their own loyalty card that gives you sale prices on top of coupons, and sometimes even their own coupons. I once got some Advil for over 50% off by combining everything together.

If I had more time, I'd try to do more of that "extreme coupon" type of stuff by clipping coupons and researching stores for matching specials.

I only use coupons for things I buy. Am I really saving money if I buy something that I'm never going to use just to use a coupon on the item? No, I think I would not.

I love using coupons, but none of the stores around here ever have double or triple coupons. Every little bit helps.

I've watched those extreme couponer shows, & would use coupons if any place around here would double them.  But they don't, so I continue to buy bulk at Costco/Sam's Club primarily.....which is the cheapest route.
