What are you willing to give?
« on: February 14, 2014, 03:43:05 pm »
I read an article today about the percentage of people, in the US, who are willing to do volunteer work.

What are you willing to offer, out of the kindness, of your heart?

I'm not very good about donating time or money, lately; however, I donate blood every 2 months and my living will and drivers license indicate that I am an organ donor.  I guess I'm willing to help someone survive if they want what I have to offer.

Have a great day!

I have always helped if I could.  I am not big on giving money to people who are just holding a sign or walk up and ask for money in a parking lot.  They usually have more than I do.  I have volunteered in scouts and nursing homes.

I donate when I can, I volunteer my time in the military (Husband is Active Duty).  My 2 dogs I adopted from the humane society.  It's hard to do a lot if you don't have much money or time, but every little bit helps.

I wish I was in a position to give give give to everyone in need.  I'm working on it.  I have a tendency to give things away I don't need.  Ie: clothes my kids grow out of.  I gave a way 12 years worth of precious moments figurines.  Just dropped them off at the goodwill.  When I can donate to church with pocket change I do.  I too am a donor.  I've looked into donating blood but the facility is a bit of a distance for me.  If there is one thing I liked about working for wal-mart it was there giving program.  I could pick how much of each check I wanted to contribute and to which organization.  I allowed each child of mine to pick and organization...and every 2 weeks a $1 was put into each charity on behalf of my kids.  Than when I paid them there allowance from doing chores which was a $1 per day (If they did them) I would subtract $1 as it was donated to charity on there behalf.

I think you should do what you can when you can and it doesn't have to be money. It just should be thought for others.

I have volunteered for years at a local thrift shop benefits local graduating senors scholarship fund. I truly love it . The money gives helps many go onto college. Thr thirft shop is also a good place for anyone find great bargains on clothes housewares and more.
It does't matter to me whether you volunteer somewhere or give money. both are in great demand. Volunteering to me is more fufilling . Even a hour a week can change someones life for the better and mostly change  yours as well. :peace:

I donate both time and money throughout the year to several charities.

When I was a teenager and getting allowance every week, I'd normally donate it to animal or environmental organizations. Now, unemployed, broke and riddled with anxiety, I unfortunately don't volunteer :( or have hardly any money to spare. Hopefully that'll change soon, though! I do give to veterans and their families; a truck comes by once a month to pick up donation bags.  :peace:
