I hate replacing things like computers plus the fact i like my computer.
I just don't have time to learn how to use a new computer. I also hate change
My computer is almost if not over 10 years old. I know I have to replace it soon but I am waiting as long as I can :peace:

Right on! You know, life would be great if I could just use my old ATARI 130XE, with the OS "ATARI BASIC" :BootyShake: Sure, I might need a few 'upgrades' (a Java-install, a new HOSTS-file, a ... modem) and every page would take AGES to connect, but I would understand exactly what was happening every step of the way! :|

I go thru computers pretty fast.  I use lap tops and I keep care of pets...and they usually start falling apart pretty close to when the computer starts slowing down.  Right now I'm ready to get a new laptop.  My computer is going slow and it's duck taped together.  Good luck....

I hope I don't have to replace any of my computers any time soon. I have two laptops and a desktop, the desktop is several years old, and rather slow, but it is still trustworthy. I dont' use it that often, though because the laptops are more convenient.

Well, happy to report that after 2 weeks, I feel like this has always been our computer. :)

Windows 8 is a little frustrating at times with a mouse, but I can see how it would be GREAT for a touchscreen!

I had one I purchased in 2004 ... had replaced parts along the way, but finally purchased a refurbished dell.  It's like night and day!

I usually try to keep my computer between 5-10 years... After that, so much of the hardware needs upgraded that it's just cheaper to go out and get a new one. I've built my own computer before, but it got to be very expensive, esp. when having to purchase all of the programs (eg Windows, Office, etc.). Most PC manufacturers can get bulk OEM licenses for those and cost them much less, which they sometimes pass those savings down to the consumer. For me, the hardware tends to be whats ages the fastest (esp. since most games tend to push the limits of your hardware).

I have a hp computer and it's not doing a very good job. I had it for almost 3 years and it overheats a lot. Keep saying I have a fan problem. If I continue using, it will cause the computer to not perform it's normal function. Well, I can't get on fusion cash if I shut it down. Duh what do I do? I don't have another computer.

... reminding everybody what we're talking about ...
... Question for you all, though: How long do your computers last? Or do you replace them on a fairly regular(2-3 years) basis, because you don't want to deal with the frustration of the last 6 months or so when it starts to get REALLY... REALLY... SLLLLOOOWWW?

That seems to be a problem with everyone at one time or another, so keep your computer clean and don't go on sites
where there could be trouble. Also don't open email you don't know.

I don't think ANYTHING lasts like it used to anymore..... I would say that the average life should be maybe 7-8 years??? I guess depending how much you use it. Good Luck! :clover:
my computer is due for cleaning i keep putting it off because i don't have the money right now.

I think it really depends on your individual situation I still am using my laptop since 2010 and everything is okay since I just replaced my battery.

Hm my first desktop lasted from 2007 to 2012 and it would have lasted longer if my apartment hadn't flooded.

my first laptop lasted from 2009- 2013 and then it couldn't stay on if you moved it which is the entire point of a laptop plus it kept over heating.

I bought a new desktop and laptop in 2013 and I expect these to last until at least 2017, longer for the desktop.
