Soul & Body, but What about Spirit?
« on: January 10, 2014, 12:36:05 pm »
For a long time, I've been 'angry' that people go along with other people who say that the "soul" and the "spirit" are the same thing, when it's clear that they're not ('God breathed' (spirit) into the body, and it became the soul!)

But this passage from the Gospels shows where some 'disagreement with that' comes in. In it, Jesus mentions the soul & the body, NOT EVEN MENTIONING the spirit.

This leads me to the conclusion that there is only one Spirit---that you & I & each other individual handles the Spirit in 'a different way,' and that 'way' might be said to be the person's "soul."

Do you come to the same conclusion?

I agree with this.God created Adam...man became a living soul.In Ezekiel it says, the soul sinning dies.Soul is what we are NOT separate. At death man goes back to dust says bible and also what God told Adam.Death is non-existence or sleep not awoken from.

Christendom under the influence of the Devil has blinded many with this.Bible is clear what soul and death is.

Zreeds....there are many bible aids out there that The WatchTower society publishes.Everything they explain they use bible to reference.

Depending how much youd like to understand I suggest looking into them. And don't worry about cost. You can find lots of free info online.

As Jesus pointed out...seek and ye shall find.

I agree they can get that way ... but this topic really 'grinds my gears;' especially when people misuse the words, claiming 'their "soul" will go to Heaven' or something. I'm like 'NO! Your "Soul" DIES with your body! It's like this: body=lightbulb, spirit=electricity, soul='turned-on light'; when the light is turned-off, the "soul" DOESN'T EXIST to "go" ANYWHERE!'

Maybe it's "only semantics," but then so is "right of way" B-)

So where did it (your soul) come from?
Where was it before you were born?
It didn't just materialize on its own.

Did you not read exactly what it is? In summary, your soul is your body infused with 'God's breath' (your spirit)

 :) Man is a 3 part being.
1. Spirit - this is where he contacts and relates to God.
2. soul - this is where he communicates with the mind and sub conscious.
3. Body - this is where he communicates with other people.

Jesus had to come to save mankind, in a physical body, otherwise trying to communicate with a "Holy" god would be impossible, unless He was in a physical body.

Christianity is different in that God chose us and came to us. Not "us" doing something or not doing something in order to win God's approval.

If we believe in Jesus, then god accepts His son's work in our behalf. Therefore we are accepted by God.

 :)

1 John 5:7, " For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

We are Jesus' brethren when we follow His commandment.

If God is 3 parts and we are made in the image and likeness of God, the we have to have three parts. ( In fact, Jesus is called the "Last Adam." and in Jesus's genealogy, Adam is listed as "son of God.")

Matthew 3:16 - 17, "And Jesus, when baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God, descending like a dove, and lighting upon him; And lo a voice, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

Here we have God the Father speaking, The Holy Spirit of God descending upon Jesus like a dove, The Father God, stating that Jesus is HIS Son and he is well pleased.

Or in other words, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Hope this helps.  :)

Sorry I bit and made a comment in this "discussion".  I believe what I believe; you believe what you believe.  I don't need to convince anyone else and I sure as heck don't want anyone using their skewed arguments to try to convince me.
Have a nice day and God bless.

Nope. And your quote described GOD. Where's your quote about 'the soul being a separate thing'?... never mind, I'd probably think that quote were 'objective in a subjective reality' or something :angel12:

I'll try my explanation again: Body, spirit & soul are the lightbulb, the electricity & the lit lightbulb.

So you don't know what you believe? :angel12: That's the best way to go :angel12:
