Grocery store
« on: January 05, 2014, 06:07:09 am »
Yesterday we went to Krogers and  people were telling us not to go into the store unless we wanted to wait  1 hour in as half in line. We walked in to see for ourselves and the lines was near the door. It was crazy inside and the same at meijer. We left the store.

The snow storm is makung everyone concerned about not being able to get out of the house.

Stores are running out of certain foods due to the demand. :crybaby2: :snowflake:

We are suppose to get snow and possibly ice here too in North to Central Georgia.  The cut off line is where we live. I haven't even thought about trying to go to the grocery store but probably need too.  It gets crazy here because we seldom get any snow so our State isn't really that equipped to handle it.

It is crazy in my area. People will go buy out all the milk and bread even if they are only calling for flurries. People get ridiculous when they are calling for snow. I understand needing items in case of a big snow storm, but people take it overboard.

I know.  I went to the store yesterday to get organization things, workout clothes, and some basic groceries for me and my friend and it was a mad house.  There was litterally no fruit in the produce area and some of the other shelves were completely stripped of products.  It took us nearly 20 minutes to get out of the store and they had every line going at Target and at Meijers.  I realize that they said it's going to snow like crazy in a bit, but this is a little overkill.  I'm from Michigan, so snow isn't going to prevent me from leaving my house to get something if I need it.

I work at Walmart and today there were so many people there shopping.  They were getting everything.  A lot of the bread was gone.  And now they have called off the winter strom warning.  Go figure.  At least they have food in the house and that is a good thing.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.

I always have supplies set aside here, although we don't get a lot of snow. But what happens is the freeway gets closed because of a big town on up on the caprock that gets a lot of snow, and ice. So if they close there it comes back down on us and when all motels get closed here then everyone else is stopped about 52 miles from us. And yes our dinky grocery store and the convience store will be sold out. This happens about every 3 years.

After having lived in Colorado for a few years, we got into the habit of having a 2 or 3 day supply of items, besides the normal groceries in the freezer.  Milk freezes great, and any items that are medically necessary for anyone in our family at the time (baby formula, medications).  Our family has law enforcement personnel and runs a lot of gas/diesel/propane stations.  So we had to be pretty self sufficient since half of the family was out helping others.

Wow! I hope prices don't go up because of the demand.

Usually whenever there's a super long line, I wait in line and my sister/mom does the shopping. Then we switch halfway to get the ones I want. and then by the time they're done, It's almost our turn or we're next in line.
