bookmarklet
« on: January 04, 2014, 05:46:33 pm »
I have been trying to do the crowdflower task that requires the bookmarklet and no matter how hard I try I can't get it to work. Can someone help me figure out how to use it properly. Thanks

Thanks for starting this thread. I also haven't been able to figure out to get the bookmarklet task to work.

Basically it's a bookmark.. It goes right under your toolbar and saves as a bookmark. You won't have to install it you drag it to the designated area. Makes it fast, easy and simple. Also There are diffrent directions per certain tasks with the bookmarklet so you wanna make sure you follow them to a T because sometiems you will spell something wrong or make a error and it will not count or will not work. Usually it will say error and you have to redo the steps. Sometimes There is an orange button before the bookmarklet it doesn't do anything.. But you wanna make sure you click that first.. It all depends on the task you are doing as to how you use the bookmarklet. So be sure to read the directions very carefully. Good luck on the tasks!

I have found that sometimes when you click the orange button to "start the job" it doesn't hold through to the point when you click the bookmarklet with the timer. I found that if I go back and click on that "does nothing" button, then the bookmarklet again, the timer will start. It's aggrevating, but oh well.   ::)

I've been very hesistant to do any of the tasks that require you to DL and install either programs or addons for browsers.  A lot of problems people get with loading IE/Firefox is having too many toolbars and addons fighting for control of the browser.

But thank you for the info on this, I thought it was an entire toolbar, not a "bookmark"

What is the purpose of the bookmarklet? I find tasks like this annoying. I avoid doing these tasks because I can't get the bookmarklet to work for me. I'm using windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10. They need to go back to the old style without the bookmarklet.

I had to try a few times, but the bookmarklet was easy to do. You open the website on the button displayed and then click on the bookmarklet that you added to your toolbar through the task. It acknowledges that you did that part. Then you go back to the task and say you followed instructions and then submit it.

I also was hesitant at first to do it, but it doesn't do anything more than add a separate place for a single bookmark just for this task. Hope this helps you. :-\  Just follow the instructions in the task carefully. Don't miss a step.

FYI: I use Mozilla Firefox.

You have to make sure you add the bookmarklet to your your toolbar or favorites.   You have to follow the instructions line by line.  Do no try to move ahead with out pressing the bookmarklet it will not give you credit.   I had to read a few times before I got the hang to  the site.    Then it worked for me.   Good luck

I was able to finally get the bookmarklet to work in Firefox.
Wasn't able to get it to work in IE, Safari, or Chrome.

It's simple once it's on there, I only use the Firefox browser for fusion task, so the toolbar is on there & a bookmark for google, & the "bookletmarklet" I just leave on the toolbar.

Firefox isn't my browser of choice so it works out great for me.

Good luck.
