What career path have you chosen?
« on: January 04, 2014, 11:32:33 am »
I would like to know what career path people have chosen and if they are truly happy with what they do. I work as a freelancer and am extremely happy, but my husband is a mechanic and is miserable working for the company he has been with almost a decade. If he could change employers he would, but we can't afford to cut his pay in half or more.

I am currently still studying business administration. Would love to work in HR positions but I've heard it is hard to get into.

I'm a disabled nobody working on getting paid to be a free adviser to those who want advice from someone who's "been there."

I am now retired. But i chose retail when i was working. Loved working there. Everyone was so nice (well execpt for a few) and my bosses were like family. I miss working but as time goes by and he older i get the worse my back gets from wrecks. (not my fault) I still like being around a few people at a time. now.

Yep, marriage & family are the backbone of society (though 'schooling' tries to take their place (under the name "education")). Schooling is to 'education' as the medical-industry is to the immune-system :-( I hope you can consider my responses as 'freelance consulting,' and/or that I can learn more about the psychology of relationships from you!

I'm working on becoming a CPA. But in all honesty, I'm not sure if it's the right path for me. I'm having a hard time getting a job as it is cause I lack experience.

Mythociate, I should talk to you if ever I need counseling. Hope you won't charge. LOL! xD

@Jiuchan -- you can always work in public accounting with a CPA -- if you earn your CPA license any public accounting firm would interview and love to have you, guarantee it.

I think of 'my office' as more of an 'online "monastery on a mountaintop" (like where the hero goes to hear the wisdom of the guru :-)) )'---'the monastery' being FusionCash's Community Forum. I 'added you to my Buddy-List,' and hope to serve as one of the many responders to your online cry-for-help 0:-)

I chose to go to a vocational school and get my certificate in Medical Billing. I am making decent money and have room to grow so I am happy with my choice

I have worked as a housekeeper, a Clerk/Receptionist, an Accounting Clerk, and an Accounts Technician for over 20 years.  I love the Accounting/Finance and the Administrative/Clerical fields.  I sincerely hope that you decide on your career path.  I am looking to rejoin the workforce, and I hope I won't have that hard of a time. :highfive: :highfive: :highfive:

I'm studying to become a civil and structural engineer. I chose this because I love drawing and designing buildings.

I am currently disabled. But when I was working, my primary job was working with Ford. And years ago I worked with the NYC DEP.
