Not so.  If you call and bug them they are likely to put you on a do not hire EVER list and tell you off for calling all day and bugging them.  Most businesses don't like that.  Wehad one calling us like that once and he thought the same thing.  We blocked his number and when he called from a different number he was told off and told not to contact us again.

I think it's great that government has unemployment and food assistance. For those who are going to work, and you're doing good, that's great. But, don't think for a minute that being laid off or fired can't happen to you. Nobody thinks this will happen to them, but it does. I hope everyone is able to find a job, and nobody has to be homeless again.

Wow if you live in this area you may have a chance. The more you bug the less chance you have. If you know someone in the hiring position the better chance you have.

I think it's great that government has unemployment and food assistance. For those who are going to work, and you're doing good, that's great. I agree with you there are some people who really need the help and are not just riding on the systems shirt-tail. It is getting harder for people of a certain age to get a job especially if they have some degrees tucked under their belt. You are either too old and the company is looking for a younger person or you are over-qualified. I know from personal experience due to the fact that I am one of the unemployed right now. I have been looking diligently for several months and have run into a wall so to speak. I just hope that something breaks soon.

I live in a depressed county. Lots of welfare mother, fathers not working. Our county just published another list of jobs  that are avaiable. 175 of them. Granted they are only min. wage jobs. But hey a job is a job. But guess what. People don't want to work. Those that have applied half did not pass the drug test. Some could not course pass a background check. But there are a few that have already been hired. they were willing to take a background check and drug test. I believe if they have to do that then so should all those on welfare should too.

My own thoughts are Jobs even in Food services is a good job but with most having 3 or 4 kids still need to feed their children and pay bills. What I have seen on this forum is that many judge POOR people. Let's reverse this as to say one ask for advice on a vacation verses one who may never to see a vacation and have worked years but to only be fired or let go cause of ageism or other. What I am saying is not everyone is abusing a system but many judge those for needing this system. It is easier to judge those than to be in their situation.
