I hope you just take one day at a time.   Taking care of someone that old is like taking care of a child.

some older people who are unable to care for themselves are often very mean and angry. They have lost control of many aspects of their lives For many of them their emotions are the only things they can control.
Alot of understanding and patience is what you need.
I know it isn't easy but thank you for doing it because elder abuse is a major problem in this country
Be grateful for what you have and you will receive more than you ever expected

If you believe it you can achieve it.

Its hard for some older people to tolerate a small child; not that they dislike them but all the noise and activity can really wear on their nerves.  That's quite a challenge you have there.  Good luck with it!

mean people are unhappy people with lot stress in their young ages. Better way is to take her out for long walk most time. Inside might make her stress often.. but thank you for your caring..

I know it can be hard.  I took care of my mother before she passed away and there was a period that she was so mean, yelling, throwing things, hitting.  I had no choice but to call the doctor and he put heron meds to help calm her.  I didn't want her to be like a zombie and she wasn't.  It was just enough to calm her down.  This can be a sign of altzheimers, have you had a doctor check her out?  Good luck and God bless you for taking care of an elderly person, you are a special person.

It is a difficult task to care for any elderly loved one when they are in that frame of mind. Please take some comfort in knowing that you are not alone. My grandmother (on my father's side) was also very angry and mean at times. My mother used to tell us that if you had 9 kids, like my grandmother had, that you would be angry and mean at times, too. It did give me something to think about when I would go to see her. Bless you for your care.

I think sometimes the family is the last to admit something is wrong with mom or dad.  I think its a hard fact to admit there is something wrong with your parent.

What a challenge you have.  Working with the elderly is certainly a gift that I don't have.  The 18 month old is easy as far as I'm concerned.  Honestly I don't know what to tell you  - I would be a mess as I couldn't deal with the combined stress of the two.
