 have had this happen several times. I now use a prepaid debit card...if it gets stolen, all they can get is what I have loaded to it. I only load the amount I need to make the purchase that I want, so there isn't much thieves can get.

This is fine as long as you do not have to return the items.  Unless you make sure it is a reloadable card.  Most places if you return an item the money is put back to where you paid for it.  Things are getting so complicated it's unreal.

I wrote a fifteen dollar check one time that the bank lady read as one hundred and fifteen dollars everything I wrote a check for was bouncing and I was incurring charges left and right..i gathered up my checkstubs and depositslips and just everything went up to the bank and we went thru everything until we found what had happened finally found the banks mistake only to have them leave half the chargesfor me cause it wasn't totally their fault that they cant read I no longer go to that bank.
