What's with all the violence & gore on TV lately?
« on: December 16, 2013, 01:23:40 am »
Is it just me or are they pushing the boundaries of the TV 14 rating these days? You can see outright beheadings  and bleeding severed limbs like it was nothing.Back in the day, that was strictly R rated material! :confused1:

Unfortunately I think it is what people want to see. I would like more of us to stand up against promoting it on TV. However, viewers polls prove us the minority. Hollywood listen up and cut the fight promotion!

its just a phase I think, everyone has to get more violent then the next show or more twists and turns, same with movies you have to try and out-do the last or you wont have good ratings or make any money

There is so much of that on tv and the shows anymore, i have found it is best to just not turn it on. I watch the gospel channel, history, planet green, pbs. and once in a while some of the older, older movies. The rest well it is my choice not to watch it just like it is my choice to watch duck dynstey because the have prayer in their show.

It's all about the ratings and $$$$$ for the tv stations.

It's a sign of the times, I'm afraid.  This is the type of so called entertainment that many people want to see.  I'm so sick and tired of it myself that my husband and I find if very easy to turn off the TV and do more productive things, like take a walk, cook and yes, even clean house.   :)

The show scandal had a girls teeth pulled by a torturer, icouldn't watch it.Also The Blacklist had a guy who made soup out of dead people ok whatever. When they had the lead character  kidnapped by the guy I left the room to get a snack and didn't care. She's the lead so not gonna die.Does seem to be more violence, and after the Scandal show got a toothache wonder why.

I hate it, and don't watch it.  Maybe if everyone tuned those channels out, they would soon get the message.

It's conditioning, getting us used to violence as normal.

I think it's a form of brainwashing.

People want to watch this stuff! If they didn't have viewers, this kind of programming wouldn't be on the air.

There will always be people trying to push the envelope and there will always be people wanting to watch it happen.  You can cast your vote by choosing to watch, or not watch, these types of shows.
