Is Jesus For- or Against Married Life?

He approved of marriage, but He didn't have His own in life? What does that mean to us?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------That's what a Pharisee might say today. You now have the chance to respond as my mentor Jesus-of-Joseph would, and I pray that you will!

Hmm...don't take relationship advice from ancient-jewish-carpenter-lich-kings? Actually there's a lot of controversy within this mythos wondering if this character did have any children!

First off Jesus approved of His fathers arrangment for marriage. He also didnt come to earth as a man to have children but to do His fathers work.If he had children out of wed-lock that would have been a sin and Jesus was sin-less...a perfect man.

Of course i expect those that dis-agree with bible to challenge all of that, but to those that agree with Bible teachings you will see that is truth.

Hitch has pretty much answered the question.Jesus came for a specific purpose,to fulfill His mission by dying for our sins, not to have a "traditional" life.

But moreover,as the Son of God it is impossible He could ever love a woman as us mortals do.Being the Creator of Mankind,we are all His children.Jesus saw all women as His daughters, thus could not sin (being sinless as He is) by looking on a woman as a potential mate.

... Jesus approved of His fathers arrangment for marriage.
His father's arrangement ... do you mean Our Father's arrangement? And what exactly was that? What did Adam do? 'Okay, girl. You're mine; stay with me'?

Or do you mean Joseph's---to find a girl who gets pregnant and to marry her to 'make her look honest'?
Quote
He also 'did come' to do His fathers work.
And what was 'His father's work'?
Quote
If he had children out of wed-lock that would have been a sin ...
And where does the Bible say that?

Where I get confused is ... with the Evangelical Covenant Church. They say every Christian's life-mission is to 'make disciples' (that --without that mission--we would have been better off just 'passing-away' after baptism!) What discipline are we to follow?

Myth....not sure its gonna help explaining this to you but to those others reading it even if 1 person understands its worth explaining.

One of the main themes of the Bible is Gods kingdom or government that Jehovah God has installed His son Jesus as king. His work was to come to earth and teach about it and show others that Adam could have loved and been obedient to his creator. Also to give his life as a perfect ransom to buy back the life that Adam subjected the human race to with sin and death. Also in Eden Satan challeneged Jehovahs right to rule saying mankind would be better off governing himself from God.He also said man woldnt die if he dis-obeyed.Truly the first lie.Jesus under more severe conditions up till death proved the devil a liar and VINDICATED Jehovah as the only TRUE God <psalms 83:18>.Remember Jesus said the greatest love 1 can have for another is to give their life for them.<John 3:16>

Satan still challeneged Jehovahs right to rule in the book of Job saying man only serves God for selfish reasons.Job proved the devil a liar too.

Jesus was a spirit before he was a man.1st born of Gods creation.Col 1:1.He came to earth as a man to Vindicate Gods name, kingdom and ransom mankind from dying after A&E sinned and the devil challenged Gods right to rule in Eden and in Job.

Scripture says "each 1 is tried and drawn out by his own desire, then when desire becomes fertile it becomes a sin.Penalty of sin was death.Adam passed death onto his offspring. And Satans desire was also to rule.Remember how he told Jesus he would give him all the kingdoms of the world for an act of worship.

Hope that helps.

It helps if I were asking whether God's throne were ... 'valid' or something. I'm not. The topic is marriage: What 'discipleship' does "getting married" follow?

Jesus said he came to earth to do his fathers work.

He said,I have made your name known, the only TRUE and living God and the 1 u sent forth Jesus Christ.

He also said,My kingdom is no part of this world. He taught about his fathers kingdom <government>

Pre-marital sex is a sin.Jesus was sin-less.He didnt come to earth to get married or have children. He was a spirit before he was a man.Remember he said, before Abraham i already was.Jesus was Jehovahs first creation, thats why he is referred to as a begotten son.Firstborn of all creation.Gods master worker.

He approved of marriage, but He didn't have His own in life? What does that mean to us?

It means he walked his own path, set out for him by the Father.

To us? Irrelevant. We each have our own path to walk.

Jesus had a secret marriage to Mary Magdalene. I know most people don't want to believe that but Jesus
was a person just like everyone else. :o

Marriage is one of the sacraments...as well as Holy Communion and Baptism.  Jesus had a mission while on earth.  This mission did not include marriage, family and a two-car garage.

You have no reason to believe that or facts to support it.

Jesus was God in human flesh,so no,He was not like everyone else.(As I already pointed out in my post above)

I do not think any living person can say what Jesus is for. He is not alive anymore and in this day and time no one knows if his mind would have changed for the life we live now. To those who do not think he is not real that's your business. To those of us who think he has lived we can not judge his thought of this day in time.

We also have no reason to believe nor facts to support that Jesus ever ... educed leavings ... Does that make every restroom a den of iniquity?
