New Affordable Health Care
« on: December 04, 2013, 06:59:45 am »
I just reviewed our state's (KY) new affordable health care plans that are being implemented to comply with the federal health care mandate.  After reviewing all of the available policies, I am still trying to find the affordable policy.  Based on my income, I do qualify for some assistance ($177 per month).  However, even with this assistance, I still can't find an affordable policy!  The policies range from $212/month ($5,000 deductible, $15,000 coinsurance, $500 deductible for prescriptions) to $686 ($500 deductible, $5,000 coinsurance, $250 deductible for prescriptions) after the assistance allowance.  If my income should raise any, so will the cost of the insurance.  I still see the health insurance industry as a big-time racket.  If truth be told, most of congress probably invests in health insurance companies!

Has anyone else looked into health insurance policies through their state's or the government's sites?
Have a wonderful day!

Not yet.  I'm dreading it.  I prefer alternative medicine and, last I looked, health insurance didn't cover the medicine / treatments I want.  I don't see the logic in paying for something I won't use so I haven't had it for years.  I can't afford it these days anyway.  :angry7:

I found a plan here in NY for $150 a month.I am grabbing it.I had my gall bladder out yr and half ago and was treated so well in hospital and didnt have coverage.I just want the piece of mind i have something and NOT feel like a sponge. The plan covers my wife too.

I am not sure down the road where this affordable act will go and i am tired of hearing Obama get crusified for helping out the poor and the middle class.I applaude what he did even tho i realize he is also a politician, but this world sucks so much you just know many that are against it based it on his skin color and NOT give a dam about poorer people.

I haven't seen anything that is affordable.  My daughter has had Blue Cross Blue Shield every since she had to come off my plan at work.  It started out being around $150.  I pay this for her until she can afford to pay it herself.  Now it is $278 and next year it is going up again to $315.
