I believe in government assistance but not in the way it is being handled in this country at the local, state and federal level. Common sense guidelines need to be put in place to prevent corruption and fraud within the system. And as for "free education" for the poor, I would myself not put that type of assistance under the category of 'free'. I was raised in a single parent home and when I applied for education assistance it was provided in a package form; a portion was a grant, a portion was a loan and a third portion was the work-study program.

some people are having hard times.  i worked 20years , 5 months 18 days at my job and the economy forced the owner to downsize.  my store was closed.  to be eligible for a retirement buy out, i had to have worked for 25 years.  i got screwed!!!!!!!!!!!!!  there are many people in that same boat.  thank God my kids are grown and i only have to worry about myself, if my kids were little, i would almost have to get food  stamps and medicaid on them.

if we did what the God has commanded us to do, there would be no need for government assistant.  each community would take care of the needy in their community

yes I believe in assistance. for some being on welfare is degrading. I lost my job because of my permanent disability and had to collect welfare for 4 months until my ssdisability came through. in a sense I feel like i'm on welfare since I get a check once a month. it's large enough for me not to get any other kind of assistance. I wish I could work or volunteer but I don't drive.

As a person who received student loans it certainly isn't free; those interest rates are a killer!

Well lets see here government assistant we cant fish or hunt without buying a license or two or more.
they frown upon homeschooling yet our children are becoming stupid they are not taught to think for themselves, and the parents nowadays seem to think that it is not their job that's what the teachers are for.   I disagree that you can get this assistant and have a second home I disagree with people being allowed more than 1 car per job  yes and no they are taking all our money how is any one who is working and trying to make ends meet  I think the companies that consider government assistant as part of the wage these companies should have to pay back the government .

I absolutely hate when companies let go of employees who have given them a portion of their lives.  And then there are all these regulations you have to adhere to in order to qualify for help that you've already earned 20x over.  Same for veterans benefits, I can't stand how the government gives vets a hard time about receiving their funds.

Yes I think there should be public assistance for those who are trying to survive on a low income.  Lets face it the government is gonna spend and waste that money one way or another so better to at least have some of it go to help those who need help.  :moneymouth:
