Do you think that we should have things like welfare, medical and education benefits to those in need or below poverty line? Do you think that a child should get free education because there parents do not have money but another student whose parents have money should have to pay? What is your opinion on these topics?
When the day come you need? Ask it again.

I believe there are those out there like the disabled(if truely disabled and not moochers)  A lot of the edlerly need it also. Who cannot pay for all their meds and feed themelves. But when i read on facebook some mother bragging about all she makes while we work or worked all of our lives  and thinks it is great. Now she should be working. The government helps fill in the gaps. I believe if a person is able to work then by golly they should be working. As for their food stamps, i have watched them fill there baskets full of food that is nothing but sweet things and high priced meats and then go out and transfer the high cost foods to somene else and recieve cash and go back into the store and buy cigs. and booze. It is a way of life for them and it needs to be stopped.

now this is an age old discussion, welfare has always been around and always will be around, it s like you dont know why they give welfare and stuff like that out, I think it should be given, because there are the less fortunate

Yes, a little help to get you on your own, but not forever on government help.

I just think this is a very hard topic to regulate because there is always gonna be the people that truly need it and then those who take advantage of it. And then if you try to regulate and track down these people and evaluate all the people if they need or are abusing thats more jobs of people to track them down more government spending. All I know is I know people that get food stamps, or government help and its like they have stay at home moms choosing to not work and stuff and I am just like thats not fair to those who really need and those who bust their butts everyday !!! Wish this problem could be solved in a fair way but have little hope

I think government assistance is necessary. I feel it is our job as humans to help those who cannot help themselves. People do abuse the system, but I would rather help everyone than help no one.

I think if your a person that's really in need of assistance then yeah I believe in it. The problem is that there are so many people taking advantage of the system that it really hurts everyone else in the long run.

NO.  IT SHOULD ALL BE CUT OUT.  WORK OR DO WITHOUT.

Everyone needs a helping hand sometime during their lives. But I think there should be limits as to how long that help can be afforded. If the person is not disabled then after a short time to get them on their feet they need to go out and earn a living.

For school, if any student are getting good grade, they should have scholarships. As for government assistance, they should have a good reason or prove to show why they need it, like if they are elderly or disable

What about people that would be willing to work but are handicapped and cant? There is nothing wrong with helping the poor or the handicapped.Do you all forget the golden rule "there is more happiness in giving than receiving"?

Yes there are many scamsters out there and i dont approve of them either. If a person genuinely needs help I approve. You never know when or if you might be in that shape someday and what goes around might just come around!

I don't believe that people should be allowed to abuse the system; however, one of the great things about being a US Citizen is that people take care of each other, in this country.  We're civilized enough to care for others whether they are terminally ill, disabled, in the path of a natural disaster or whatever.  One thing that makes this nation great is the fact that people care about people.

Most of us know someone, or we care about someone, who needs assistance.  It makes sense to me that we would do our best to bless each other's lives.

Have a great day!

I'm fine with government assistance as long as it doesn't become a long term plan of survival or a crutch to not aim for self elevation.  The student that receives that financial aid to become a doctor could be the one to save your child, likewise that mother on welfare could be raising a president or well known humanitarian so I don't know those that need it for receiving it.

I wholeheartedly agree!  Now I think there is a time limit of 2 years to be on it, which I agree with.  I am also in favor of drug testing as an eligibility requirement of receiving assistance.

I believe people who are disabled or the elderly (social security) should get help.  They cannot help they are disabled or got older. I do believe in drug testing for people on welfare.  I believe people who need it should  able to  get welfare, however; you should not be able to retire from welfare.  Years ago I worked at a loan company and we had people applying for car loans, etc. who were on welfare for 10 or more years!  What's wrong with this?  I don't care if you have to make the slurpies at 7-11 at least you are working!
