???Why do some people jogging in cold frigid days. Does the body benefit from it. Sometimes when I drive my car outside, I notice some are jogging in the cold weather. It puzzles me.

I think you burn more calories when you exercise in cold weather. In addition to the exercise, your body has to burn calories to keep you warm.

because cold or heat some people really like to stay in shape and even if it is cold it's good for them, helps draw away those winter / holiday blues and also while it may seem cold to you while they run they probably feel quite warm and even work up a sweat.

Some people are just conditioned with certain weather attributes better than others, but I also heard about burning calories more in more frigid weather.

It's great to be outside and gain the health benefits of it.

The cold air usually makes you run faster (to warm up)!

From what I've heard, you burn calories when you are shivering, so if someone is really trying to lose weight, jogging during the colder days may result in more fat burning or something.  It could also be that they don't have access to a treadmill or indoor track to jog on, and don't want to pay for a gym membership while the sidewalk outside is free to use.

People jog in the winter to keep to a routine they have devised.  Jogging on a treadmill is really boring.  Outside you see and feel the environment, people, characters.

Running outside is a lot more fun than running on a treadmill.  And just because it's cold, doesn't change the fact that you want to keep up with your fitness.  It's actually sometimes kind of nice to run when it's cold.  It's a lot easier than running in hot weather.

For starters, some people just love jogging and staying in shape.  But I also heard when it's cold, the metabolism tends to kick in and work harder because it's trying to ensure the body stay warm but while this is happening, you're burning more calories because the metabolism is working harder.
