We always have mashed potatoes.  (YUMMMMMMMMM!)  But after a day or two we do the mac and cheese.  I think the mac and cheese is more a southern tradition.

I found a new way for mashed potatoes, make then the day before and add cream cheese and Parmesan cheese and then bake the next day to warm. Makes more time the next day cooking.

There will certainly be BOTH served, along with at least a half dozen other dishes that practically no one will eat. Someone will take a spoonful of these un-wanted things just to make the cook feel good, but that only encourages them to make the dish AGAIN. Seriously there will be enough 'ignored' dishes to feed a small army!

We have mashed potatoes and yams every year. They're both so good.  :)

Definitely mashed potatoes!!!!! It's the best with turkey and gravy. We're very traditional at our house.

We always add both  plus some rice, since we are Spanish, plus a couple of salads and 2 or 3 types of meats (turkey, ham and maybe some beef or fish)
