That sucks.  It may be a blessing in disguise she may find something even better.

When life falls apart, consider the fact it was knocked down on purpose. A new start might be in order.

I feel so bad for your co-worker. At my job they did some restructuring and let too many good people go and for the rest of us we had to take a pay cut. Hopefully things will turn around for all of us.

Today is bad to lose any job, people need money so much I do feel bad for anyone in this position, I know alot of single moms and they have it bad cause even if they find a job what if the baby gets sick, I'm a single mom and my daughter was born 3 months premature and come home on a heart monitor so long story short I really strungled big time, I always side to myself that there is someone out there worse is worse off then you. But I wish your friend good luck finding a job , I need job too so tell her hang in there, there is something better out there. :)

Been there, done that.  My job was "outsourced" after 15 years with my previous employer.  The "outsource" turned out to be a new girlfriend of the company's CFO.  It all turned out to be a blessing in disguise.  Although I now make about 1/3 of what I was making (plus no insurance, retirement, etc.), my life is a lot less stressful now than it was when I was working at "Satan's Place".  I miss the money but not the evil I had to put up with to make it.
Have a wonderful day!

There is no such thing as loyalty in the workforce anymore. Less than a year after getting divorced, I got laid off of my job of almost 7 years. Then they fought my unemployment saying I could have kept my job if I would have tried harder to earn the company more money...

You are right, she may be better off someone else with a fresh start.
