If anyone is a fan, maybe they can answer me a question that I can't seem to figure out. Why on season 8 do they men tion things that happened in the last movie. Didn't that come out long after the series was over?

There were 2 X-Files movies.  The first one was "The X-Files: Fight the Future" which hit theaters in 1998, the second movie was "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" which hit theaters in 2008.  Season 8 of the TV show premiered in the fall of 2000.  The references were related to the first movie.  At the time it was planned to integrate the first movie storyline with the movie that was playing in theaters during the summer.
