CAmping activities
« on: October 08, 2013, 10:18:02 pm »
I am going to plan a camping event but want to know some activities besides smores and cook outs. Going to be a group of girls I mean there is the scary stories kind of thing but any other ideas of fun things to do while camping or any advice of something not to forget?

A nature hike would be good... Perhaps mix the scavenger hunt idea with this, having them find things in nature like different types of leaves, flowers, etc. Or perhaps crafts using natural things to decorate it with. For example, see if a local craft store has plain white masks that the girls can glue different things like tree bark or rocks to it to make something like a Native American type of mask.

Offer a prize for the girl that brings in the biggest snake!  ;D

You have a great opportunity to teach the girls some independence and confidence! Not knowing the age range makes it difficult to be real specific just what might be a good fit, but depending on their age you could teach them how to start a fire with flint and steel, or build a shelter from branches and leaves. How to fish is a good idea for almost any age I think.

I imagine you could find a lot of ideas by visiting YouTube and searching for camping things. Have fun and stay safe!

How old are the girls?

Do you know how to make friendship bracelets? Take along a bag of floss and let the girls each have bracelet to work on during "down time".
