So my cat scratched me a week ago and now my arm is infected. Having to take antibiotics. Today the cat is getting declawed and neutered.

I didn't even get scratched and I did that to our cat and he did fine I was worried about the furniture though... heard too many horror stories and our cat had to pay the price...

You do realize that when they declaw a cat, they are not only removing his nails, they are removing the FIRST KNUCKLE on each toe.  In the long run, this sometimes causes problems when the cat is older - like arthritis.  Think about it - would you like to have your first knuckles removed?  I'm actually surprised you even found a Vet who does the barbaric surgery any more.  I hope your cat isn't an OUTDOOR or even an INDOOR/OUTDOOR cat.  Having no claws, he will not be able to defend himself against the attack of another cat and will wind up ripped to shreds with even bigger Vet bills on the horizon.

Spaying and Neutering is always a good idea.  They will be healthier for it and won't wind up populating a neighborhood in no time if the cat is an outdoor cat.

Ummm... instead just dont have a cat poor kitty...and yeah i guess so it got infected litterbox scratch scratch ewww... i have no patience for animals...people spend so much money on animals instead of feeding a dog or cat and mutilating it.... feed a poor orphan in another country youd be spending less money
