How should Government Officials be paid?

I agree that the gov't officials should take a cut in pay then the government wouldn't have to go bankrupt. You would think that they would figure that out. unfortunately that probably want to keep their money so they don't bring it up.

A pay cut wouldn't do a damn thing. We're trillions of dollars in debt.

It would be nice if it was performance based.  Unfortunately they can totally botch everything up and still get paid and be successful in blaming it on someone else.

Tough to answer. My mother told me years ago that if they aren't crooks when they enter politics, they end up crooks. Most of what they do deprives us of independence to live our lives according to the Constitution. They should definitely be forced to enroll in Obamacare like everyone else.

i think they are over paid and overbenifited  I have to pay for my own hair cuts why do I have to pay for theirs to they need benefits cut back

I think it should be how most of us are paid, you get a set amount and maybe a bonus if you do a good job.  I never understood the idea that they can vote to raise their own salary.  I mean, really, of course I think I deserve a raise, that doesn't mean I walk up to my boss and say that, but that's what happens in congress. 

I say it should also be something like an attendance system, in which if you don't show up, you don't get paid cause it annoys me to hear how they are meeting X day and only half show up.  I'm sorry, if most of us do that, we'd lose our jobs.
