Holidays are around the corner and coming up what's the biggest pain about the holidays you don't enjoy?

For me it has to be the bumper to bumper traffic and the idiot drivers who cut you off

Holiday are suppost to be a joyous occasion the only Pain about holidays really would be if someone lost someone and struggle to see the beauty in the holiday. Other than that i would say they are Downers. A couple of my downers are.. As you said Traffic. Yes it gets horrid out there. Flights delayed, Idiots on the road that don't know how to drive, Wrecks, Sometimes weather problems that create traffic lights to go down then you have people that don't know how to use the lights as a 4 way stop signn.. So aggrevating..
Then you have The stores closed. So when you run out of something you can't really go get it.. And The number one thing i hate Is when a store is actually open on the holiday and people go in and give the people working grief.. Really? It's a holiday they don't need that they already are having a bad day by being at work instead of home with their families. They also never get the thankyou they deserve for being open.. Another Downer for me would have to be The people who spend alot of time preping for the meal's and that alone can be a hassle.. Then you got the clean up and you don't get to see your kids till time for bed because they go and ware theirself down with the new toys and what have you. Not their fault really but sometimes the holiday can leave you alone.. Even if you have family over Because you miss everything when your in the kitchen cooking and then your on the floor cleaning.. Another downer would be.. People who dillerberatly come over on Holidays and Fight with Someone or cause problems.. Here we are Trying to be happy Make some new memories and have good times and the last thing you want is a fight with Family.. Good Gravy...The Last thing that is a downer on Holidays is Saying Goodbye.. I hate that part.. You have family you haven't seen in years or months or what have you and the hardest thing in life is the Goodbye.. Thats the Saddest Part about the Holidays.. And one of the Worst Downers..

Not a pain but more of an annoyance are all the sob stories that appear. Like Craigslist will be bombarded with people that didn't realize Christmas was n December this year and their kids will have nothing if nobody helps.

The biggest pain for me regarding the holiday is not tree going up, I love decorating it, a garland round my front door, hanging the stockings, huge turkey dinner... no, for me it's taking down the decorations when I don't even have Christmas to look forward to anymore.

I would say the biggest and emotional pain for me is not spending it with my late parents. In fact they haven't seen all my kids and for that I will always feel that lost and that void for my kids to at least sit on grandpa or grandma's laps for the holidays. It is fun to have a the holiday season but it is even more meaningful when you have the entire family around. Just a thought!!!

Sadly, it's my family.  We try to get everyone together but it never seems to happen and yet on the rare occasion that it does happen, someone has to do something that angers everyone else so the joyous holiday becomes not so much.

How expensive the travel gets! I have to get my daughter to TX to see her dad and I have to pay for travel one way and it's crazy how much it costs!

For me the pain is really just not being able to connect with loved ones whom have passed. I recently have lost both my Mom and my Dad so this holiday season is a dredded time for me.There is always a family member who wants to be difficult because they are harboring bad feelings towards another family member; so that will also make for a hair- pulling time for me as it is my kids that I will have to compromise with. I am not looking forward to this holiday season AT ALL!! :sad1:

I don't enjoy them anymore.  For the past 20 years I have fixed cash registers and automated teller machines.  From November on retailers and banks put the pressure on us to fix the machines.  The people who use the machines (customers of our customers) treat us like we personally broke the machine so they can't use it.  They call us names and say really nasty things.  Then there are snowbirds who come to Florida and treat the locals like dirt.  Then also the company I work for stops spending money on parts and other expenses.  So our customers get even more ticked off at us.  Also December is the time of the year they announce reductions in force (layoffs) and pay cuts if they are going to make up numbers for the year.  I spend most of my off time avoiding people all together this time of the year.  Be nice to the guy fixing the ATMs, he did'nt break so you can't use it.   :-\

Wow!  All this pain and sorrow over the holidays! I didn't realize how much people were affected by other people's actions. It makes me sad when this should be such a joyous occasion and celebration of Jesus's birth. How many go to church to celebrate the real reason for Christmas.  Maybe if we make a point of doing this, it will be a joyous celebration instead of such a headache. I enjoy the shopping, but I try to go when there are not so many pushy people around, and I would never go when they have Black Friday, etc. I do a lot of shopping during the year which helps a lot.

The shopping I guess. So many people are out for a good deal they'll do just about anything to get to it. Traffic would be the next one.

I start shopping the day after Christmas.   I start  boxes for the new babies each year with a Christmas ornament every year.  So unless it has the year on it, I get almost all the decorations for next year then.  Scarves and gloves are another thing I stock up on, ones that were so beautiful and costly before Christms now are still just as beautiful, now are selling for 75% to 90% off.  A lot of things I stock up on now are also great throught out the year for birthdays and anniversaries.    If your tree ornaments or garland is looking bad, get it now right after the holiday for next year!  I start in September getting any of the baking goods I can (We always have a huge cookie exchange party).  I love the holidays, I think if you let them overwhem you or stress you out, that is what is a bummer.  I keep my address file up to date so that I can print out labels quickly for cards or gift boxes.
