I bet it's gonna be something that deals with what we use every day. Maybe a detergent ball that lasts way longer than the normal bottle of detergent.

If I knew the answer to that question, I would be inventing it.  :)

I'm guessing it has something to do with computers or cars.

Whatever the next big thing is, it is going to be technology related. We have moved forward so fast in the last 10 years. I would assume that computers and tablets alike will soon be using Graphite to speed things up. It seems Graphite is a great conductor for electrical speed. Thus that will probably bring Holograms into our home via TV and tablets and computers. Imagine having a computer that has no screen, just holograms flying around.

I bet it's some kind of a device. Like a hands free cell phone.

The next invention SHOULD be a way for everyone to generate their own power and fuel, a realistic and viable way

I think it will be a cell phone implanted in the palm of your hand. I don't plan to have one though.

something to do with technology I am sure. And it will be so expensive nobody can afford it.

I think the next major invention will involve stem cells.

ro901, you have said it.  I have been thinking that for a while and that is a a true fear.  I am so fearful of the day when something has to be implanted in order for us to be able to shop or use a computer or anything else vital.  There is no doubt in my mind that I am not going that route, but it is something to face.

I'm thinking that technology will continue to blur (eg smart TVs will soon be wall mounted computers) eventually leading to a Bill Gates-like "smart house" that has many different things controlled by computers and using smart TVs as a terminal for interacting with the system. There will be more use of computer optics (eg using the X-Box Kinect type of cameras to interpret a person's actions) to allow for mouse-less / keyboard-less computing. As for medical ingenuity, we'll continue learning about how a person's body is made up (eg their genetic make-up as well as the food they ingest, their environment, etc.) and be able to deliver individualized medicine. For example, not all cancer's are the same even of the same "breed"; breast cancer can be HER2/Neu-positive which would require different treatment than a different type of breast cancer leading to a more individualized form of medicine.
