French Fry Snob
« on: September 16, 2013, 08:11:06 pm »
I am very picky about my french fries, i like them to be crisp, sized proportionally, and salted or season just right.  Is anyone else the same way and what are some of the best restaurants for good frency fries?

I'm not really particular about my fries. I just like fries in general. Although McDonald's fries are my favorite.

When I eat french fries I like them crispy and regular size I don't like thin fries like they serve at shake and bake they have stringy french fries.  I don't know if I got the name right for the restaurant.  I don't care for curly fries, and steak fries are ok But I prefer McDonald, Wendy's, Burger King, and Sonic, but at sonic they have the very very best onion rings oh they are so good!

I prefer shoestring fries over "regular" fries.  Curly fries, like you get at the fair are fun.  Then there's British chips, with salt and vinegar.  Usually I just make fries at home, in my pan, these days.  Then I know what goes into them.  ;D

There are a number of casual national restaurant chains that serve very medicore french fries and I think in large part to save on expense and increase profits.  I find local bar establishments to sometime have the best french fries.

I like to make chili cheese fries and the ones that seem to hold it the best are the waffle fries.  You will find me doing that pretty often. But, yes, I get the fries crispy then add the topper.

I like fries to be crispy.

I like fries to be crispy too. I don't like them to taste like lard though like they do at some of the fast food restaurants. A little salt for flavoring.

I like sweet potato frys. They are sweet, with a little bit of flavored salt and cooked crispy.  The only way to go.  Reg. frys are ok as long as they are real crispy and not oily.

I am the same way about fries! They also have to be hot/warm. I can tell at times when they have been sitting there. My favs when i get fries are still from McDonalds, Burger King and Wendys

I personally love Arby's fries and Wendy's fries.  The rest of them are sorta so so.  I haven't come across a place that makes them any more appetizing than those two, so I stick with them.

I like fat fries.  Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.  I also like oven-baked fries made with potatoes from my garden.

I like the ones that are naturally cut and lightly seasoned. Five Guys Burgers and Fries have some really good fries like that (I also like the fact that they have malt vinegar at their condiment's station which I really like for dipping my fries). Usually curly fries have too much seasoning and I tend to get heart-burn from eating them (thus I don't like Arby's for that reason, esp. after they got rid of their regular fries). I really like steak fries as well since their thickness makes any seasoning less overpowering. BWW's has good steak-fry "wedges" and "wheels", esp. with chili & cheese.  (BTW, when I first read the topic, I thought you were going to talk about how some snob insisted on calling them "Patriot" fries, esp. in light of the Syrian issue and France already saying they wouldn't go in on military action).
