Did you go to any dances when you were in high school?

Did you ever go to any dances when you were in high school? If so, what were they, and what was your experience?

Yes, when I was in Jr. High we had casual dances. About once a month the school would hire a DJ and charge us (the students) $2 for admission. It was usually held on friday's in the gym. We would go to our morning classes as normal, but the last 2 hours of the school day was reserved for the dance. Now on to my experience...

I hardly ever went to the dance, most of the time I just stayed in the classroom but the times that I did go, I didn't enjoy it, because I am a introvert that tried to force myself to be an extrovert to fit in with the other kids.

My mom would never allow it......I had to cry roll on the ground and get the coach to beg my mom for my just to let me play basketball......

I never went to any dances when I was in high school. I was never part of the in crowd. So I never got involved in anything in high school.

Yes I did I went to one in middle school and two homecomings in high school and prom. I always wanted to go to get pictures and go with friends but i never danced just walked around i was so nervous to dance

Nope. Sure didn't. Never had any interest in going to any of them. I'm not a dancer. I don't dance, like ever. Period. Lol I did go to one once in junior high days. It didn't turn out to be much of a dance though. I went with a group of friends and we went just to hang out and goof off together. It got us out of our respective houses for a couple hours without any of our parents nagging us. haha

Yes, just one.  The girl who I wanted to ask was literally asked just minutes before I was going to ask her.  I was walking towards the library where I knew she was, a classmate was coming my way, I said hello and asked him if he was going to the dance.  He said yes, explained he just asked the person I was going to ask, and my heart sank.

I ended up asking someone who didn't go to my school, but was someone I went to school with years prior.  It ended up being a mistake.  She appeared to have a miserable time, and we spent more time away from the dance just sitting and waiting for the event to be over... mostly with just awkward silence as I at least tried to converse about anything.  I never could figure out why you would even waste your time going if you had really no desire to go in the first place?

She didn't ultimately sour me from future ones.  However, I was ill for most of my junior year, and missed my entire senior year, which thus cost me the major dances.

I went to some of the dances when I was in high school. I preferred to do other things, so I skipped out on most of them even though I was in student council as well as the Junior class committee to set up Prom and decorated for the dances.

I never went to any dances since I was too shy.  Never wanted to, and for the most part I don't care that I missed out on them.

I was extremely shy during my school years. Unfortunately this costs me to miss out on all school dances. I didn't even go to my own prom.

I never went to any. I went to a small school and I generally didn't like anyone. Most of the girls were unattractive too. Never any reason to go.

The only dance I went to in high school was my Senior Prom and that was nothing to write home about.  I didn't have a date so I went myself.  The dress I wore was a bridesmaid dress from my cousin's wedding.  I felt so out of place, I was the first one to leave.  I hated my whole high school experience.  I was the quiet, shy type.  But now after reading everyone else's replies, I don't feel so alone.
