Dangerous Warning!
« on: September 08, 2013, 12:19:01 pm »
I use McAfee for my internet security when I try to click on most of the video's I get a big red Warning message that it is a Dangerous site!
Has anyone else had this that uses McAfee? How can I fix this?

No problems for me.
Try a different browser.

I had that years ago, it seemed like everything I clicked on said Dangerous Warning, I dropped them and have never had a problem since.  I stopped paying them and now have a free protection!

I have had that problem on another site.  I have not been watching the videos here lately, but on the other site I finally just stopped using it because everything I tried to click set off my Avast.  They said it was because of how there offers redirected for the tracking, but I wasn't willing to change my antivirus since I had no problems other than with that site.

I don't use MacAfee or Norton anymore.  I use Avast.

Avast will block ads if they consider them to be dangerous (trojans, viruses, etc).  I am rarely blocked from a entire site and when that happens, I contact the site admin letting him know that my security system blocked his site.

False negatives are not that unusual in the security process.  Suspect their theory is that it's better to be wrong with false negatives compared to letting a bad site come through.  It's up to you to decide whether you want to take the risk and try a less stringent security program.

I doubt that changing browser will help you; it's your security software that is generating the block.

Exactly why I no longer use Windows and anti-virus to surf the Internet, when I switched to Linux I no longer had those kind of problems.

I experienced this often.  I also formerly used McAfee for my security protection, only to discover that it was the cause of my problems with my laptop.  It only ended after I had it taken off.  I purchased my laptop from Office Depot in July 2011.  It is now 2 years old and, for many months, I discovered that I was having problems, resulting in my having to take my laptop in for repairs.  I then discovered, when I took it in 5 months ago, that McAfee caused a lot of problems with the operation of my laptop. ??? ??? ???

I am not a McAfee fan,  I had a lot of trouble with them in the past. But my trouble with the videos was using internet explorer, when I switched to Firefox, it has been fine since. It is good to have two search engines on your computer anyway, then if one quits you still a back up to access another.

I dropped McAfee years ago when the support turned to crud and it became a resource hog.  It used to be one of the best anti-virus out there but has gone down hill.  Why pay for something when you can get a GREAT anti-virus for free - "AVAST!"  Been using that one for quite a few years now and have never run in to a problem.

I used MacAfee for a bit as it came with a year free on my laptop but it was horrible I got rid of it quick.  I will add to the recommendations for Advast-free! When I needed a new hard drive in my desktop the local computer geek put Advast on it (I had been a Norton fan- forget that).

You might try changing your security settings.  If it is set on high that will trigger blockages, similar messages, etc.  Usually the recommended setting is medium high or medium.
