Should the US take action where the mess in Syria is concerned?

I have mixed feelings about this.  On one hand, I don't think 2 wrongs make a right.  Does the US really need to act as "police" in other countries?  Does the US taking action improve the situation or does it leave people in those countries feeling like they wish we would mind our own business?

Then again, I think about all the innocent people including children that might need help?

No, it's best to let other countries nearer to the situation worry about it.  The USA has went into these situations far too many times before.

Food for thought: If Syria can get away from using chemical weapons against its own countrymen without recrimination, what is to keep them from using those same weapons again, wherever they choose to do so? 

I'm not in charge, but I think there needs to be some sort of action taken, and swiftly. 

I don't want war either.    I know we're all sick of that, but something should be done. That's my humble opinion.

u.s should mine there own business, and syria will reap what they sow,  the u.s should be taking care of its own people and stop worrying about everyone else, they don't wants us to have health care but, they have money for wars they don't want us to have 15. dollar and hour wages but, have money for wars, they don't want us to get loans from the banks to get homes but have money for wars,  they don't want us to vote but have money for wars, they don't want women to have rights but have money for wars, they bail out the corrupt ones, and have money for wars, people are living on the streets and eating out of the garbage cans but the us turns there head but, they care for other people and have money for wars.  u.s should mean united stink a-- america but it is written wars and rummors of wars in the bible

In all honesty I think the US should get involved by convincing the Arab League to police thier own members and get rid of the chemical weapons as fast as possible.  Let the UN inspectors come in and if they are not removed hold the Arab League responsible.  No US troops or weapons needed except what we supply to the Arab States.

I think the USA should stay out of it. Nobody wants the USA over there.  They want the USA to pay for everything but that is really all they want and our leader is just dumb enough to go for it.

I also have mixed feelings about this. I feel we can't be the guardians for the whole world and always take care of the problems. But I hate to see people subjected to chemical war far. It's always the inocent people that pay the price for a few radicals.

I don't think the US needs to send any of our troops over there, but something has got to be done and the sooner the better. That chemical warfare stuff if bad business.

I think that Congress should at least get a say. I hope Obama does not do the same thing he did in Libya. The Middle East is just a powder keg waiting to go off. What will cause it to blow up the West, only God knows. I think that the US will be involved in more than 1 conflict at a time. Lets hope that it is not more than 2 at a time. We did just get out of Iraq, so I guess it is time to start somewhere. We should definitely not cut Defense spending!

Like when we took swift action in the past like in Libya, Irag, Afghanistan, etc.? That didn't work out so well.

Syria hasn't expressed any aggression towards the US. It's not like there is an imminent threat towards us.

What about the thousands of dead US soldiers in Iraq? Now that's a shame. I have no interest in repeating history.

I hate to dip into Politics on this but, It is hard to stay away from it when a question like this is asked.

1- We actually need to know "Who" released the Chemical Weapons. I don't even think the UN investigators came up with that answer yet!!
2- We as Americans seem to jump to judgement  - and too quickly - not thinking everything through - We have had a year to think about what we would do, if you remember the "Red Line" statement was given over a year ago. We can't just mouth off and not back it up. If we are not going to back it up - Don't make the statement.
3- If we are not ready to commit - we should not be there!!

I spent 22 years in the Military and I don't recognize What I used to know. The US had resolve - no longer!!
