So do you think the bosses, teachers or whoever makes the rules for others should follow them themselves or not because they are above and have the authority? I have always wondered peoples views on this some examples my cousin told me she wore a tank top to school and the teacher went to make her wear a sweeter this was yesterday in illinois 90 degree weather then the next day that teacher wore a tank top do you think that is fair???? Or when teachers say no cell phones in class and are SSOOO strict about it yet if there phone goes off and they ANSWER the phone and have a minute conversation this is fair??/ Or how about bosses who enforce protocol except when they dont want to do it themselves what do you guys think about this?

In some instances what the military refers to as RHIP is going to occur.  Rank Has Its Privileges.  And that is the way it is.  Yes, a person of rank or in a management position with years of experience with a company has more leniency than the low man on the totem pole.  The new guy sweeps the floor at the end of the day and is scheduled holidays.  With time on the job and proven company loyalty as you rank up you will also enjoy certain perks.  It is called corporate America.  It is the way it is and it is motivational.

Rules are made to be enforced, and the people who makes sure they are enforced are the enforcers.  It is not fair that the enforcers can do it, but you can't do it.  I formerly lived in Chicago for 27 years and, even then, rules were made that made no sense.  I bought my daughter a pager so I could keep track of her.  I received a phone call and was told that she could not have the pager at school.  I don't think it is fair that rules are made to be enforced by one, but they don't have to follow the same rule themselves.  They should practice what they preach. ??? :( ???

Definitely people that make the rules should follow them They are suppose to set an example. If they can't follow them why should they be important enough for others to follow.

Politicians are good at establishing laws, rules and regulations while at the same time making themselves exempt.  Diplomats are often given free reign in foreign countries and sanctuary within their own embassies.  Some in places of power feel and act like they are "above the law".  Many forget that "God" is in ultimate control and that there will be "hell to pay for wrong doing and mistreatment of others".  It is "God", "My Father in Heaven", that gives me sovereignty over my own thoughts and actions and the freedom and liberty to choose for myself.  I don't recognize the authority of self imposed dictators that have no concern for those they govern nor live by "HIGHER LAWS" of decency and respect for others.  We should be the example and be the change we want to see in the world.     Fight for your freedom or live and breath by the dictates of others.

Sounds like that teacher needs to be reported to the principal.

Yes, the rules should be for everyone.  The ones who make the rules should follow them just the same and if they do not there should be consequences.

I know its so hard because when you make a rule for someone you want to better them not yourself and that is why there is so much resentment because change is hard.

Yes i believe they should follow them, I also think they should be enforced. But them of course you have those that think it does not apply to them. I am thinks of congress. They are nothing but crooks along with the white house. Man we need someone in power who will follow the rules not consider them selves king.

It depends if you want to be a leader or a boss.

Leaders generally lead by example.  They do their part and expect others to do theirs as well.  They realize that people have lives and sometimes things happen that are beyond your control and you have to learn to roll with the punches.

Bosses generally are those who, well, boss you around.  They think because they are in a higher position, that means they can do anything, and they generally like to make sure you know that.  They will sit around and yell orders while watching everyone else work.

I believe that if there is a rule, you should follow it as well.  Obviously, if you're a parents, there's a little wiggle room with this, but in general it works.  Parents are trying to help the kid learn about the world though, so things like "go to be at 9" are there to help the kid.

However, if a school has an all encompassing rule like no tank tops, then it applies to everyone.  If it says, students can't wear tank tops, then I don't see why a teacher can't.  That's the problem though is that most places just have an all encompassing rule and those in power say "well, that's doesn't apply to me."

For some it is a matter of "do as I as I say...not as I do!"

I do think when a boss or teacher adheres to the rules it sets a good example and allows for a consistency so that the rules are well understood. Any boss or teacher that doesn't follow these rules will have a hard time enforcing the rules because the people below them will not respect them.

We have a strict cell phone policy in my workplace. We also have policies about personal phone calls (they shouldn't happen unless absolutely necessary) because we work in a service industry where we deal with customers all day. I'm pretty good about it but I have young coworkers who have that compulsion to always check their phone, some to the point that they've been put on warning.

Meanwhile, my boss is texting at her desk and another supervisor is having long-winded conversations with her husband and daughter every other hour. Seriously, you can't ask your 7-year-old about her day at school once you get home?! And if it's because school just started, because she did it every. single. day last year. Urgh!
