i think it's fine.
the only things i would change would be to:
- make the font normal size instead of large (everything seems to be larger than on current site, like 14pt or higher fonts?). Alot of us aren't vision-impaired and don't need/want large fonts. It makes everything take up more space on the page. If people need larger fonts, their browser has the option to zoom to make them larger.
- have the "recent posts" under my account changed to "my posts" and show my posts there with a link to the forum in the main menu above next to my account. Forums are community, not personal so I don't understand why it's under my account in the first place. If someone wanted to go straight to forums, they shouldn't have to click through my account.
The larger font is not just for vision impaired folks, it's to reduce strain on the eyes and make the site easier to use. A ton of people had FC's old design "zoomed in" to compensate for the tiny font size it used. The font size for body text on the new design is 1em which is w3c's
recommendation because it technically means "your system's default text size". If you want it smaller you should be able to adjust it a number of ways but perhaps the most appealing would be Firefox's option to "Zoom only text" - which does exactly what it says.
And as for the recent forum posts, I agree with the logic that there's nothing really personal about them and they don't belong in 'my account'. I added them after a number of requests from members for it. Still thinking on the best course of action for those, but it will probably end up being a simple link to the 'recent posts' page on the forum instead of pulling them into the page as previews. In any case, every page on the new FC design has a link to the forum in the header, so it's not hard to get to!
