Calls from Telemarketers after submitting Online Job Applications

Over the past four months I have been applying for jobs online; the good news is that I just recently received a job offer! During this period of job searching, I put my phone number on several job sites and for every 15 calls I received asking if I wanted to continue my education or buy something, I received about 1 call from a potential employer. Has this happened to you? Sure would be interested in knowing.

Fortunately no, but in the future I'd recommend changing small pieces of info in your profile so you can track down which site is selling your information and confront them about it.

Congratulations on your job offer.     They're tough to get these days.  Hope that company's not one of those that sold your info.  That's pretty low class.

I just get calls re: wanting to further my education and not from an employer. I've been getting emails from jobs.com, etc though. Will wait for a call, thanks for the info

i have had the same thing happen to me and sometimes they keep calling and wont stop

The job site that seemed to work the best for me was Indeed.com. I highly recommend it in searching for a job. Good luck!

Perseverence. For months, I applied for numerous jobs on a daily basis. The online job site that worked best for me was Indeed. Good luck!

When you do surveys and put your information in, you are agreeing to certain things read it and you will see. If you look up your name you will find that on many websites your information is all there for any one to find and see. There is a way you can erase such information what it is out there but you may not erase it from millions of sites. Your place of living and anything else you put in the fields of the information is for everyone to see.  Good luck

If you are going to do this i suggest that you also sign yourself up on the do not call list.  the potential employers will still be able to call you but you wont have to deal with the telemarketers.

Congrats on the job offer! The same thing happened to my friend. He put his number on his profile and he's still getting scam calls. Be careful who you give your information to!

I screen all my calls, only pick up if it's someone I know. When I first started, I found a much better rate on car insurance, and in the spirit of FC, I signed up. Still getting calls, though. Our names obviously go into a huge database that keeps churning out those telemarketing calls. Guess it goes with the territory and no need to be bothered by it.

I don't submit job apps but I do a lot of other things online and get a lot of telemarketer calls. I have resorted to using my answering machine.

Yes, this kind of stuff happens all the time. I have been applying for and searching for jobs and I get all kinds of crazy calls. I get a lot of spam in my email too about jobs. Most of them aren't even legit, most are scams or offshore money laundering jobs. It is a shame that private information is no longer private. Banks, credit card companies, phone companies, cable companies and many other companies sell information. Even credit bureaus sell your information too, and that is scary.

Yea happened to me recently. Alot of these "job" sites are just trying to get hits. They say you have to fill out their questionaire & register with them to apply. That's not always the case as you can often search for & apply directly with the company.
